£20K should get you something good 15 for the purchase and 5 in reserve for repairs. Don't rush - spend some ( conciderable) time reading through info on this forum and get as much knowledge as possible. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

If it’s any help, I sold my old 2002 200,000 mile petrol v8 Range Rover,, to buy another Range Rover with almost 200k miles on it! A 2012 Tdv8. Westminster. I got it two years ago, with full Land Rover service history, and in very nice condition, with only a little rust on rear tailgate. I service and maintain my own cars, and in that time I’ve done about 18k miles, and have changed the ‘fan belt’ (serpentine belt) and all the pulleys and tensioners, as one was a bit rough sounding. Replace the alternator at same time as the water pump. And had a couple of minor issues with the adaptive damper wiring connections. It’s a fantastic car, and so much better than my outgoing petrol v8. The Westminster model is very nice, and comes with heated and cooled seats, and a few other freebies…. But it could be better, if you sought the pinnacle model, the Autobiography. That has superior leather, and extra trim, and all bells and whistles. And would be in your budget. The Tdv8 4.4 is an amazing engine, and doesn’t have any ‘timebomb’ type issues, like turbos, head gaskets etc. the 8 speed gearbox is a marvel, and the engine cruises with very low rpm, making it the most fuel efficient of all the l322 range rovers. I would recommend the 4.4 Tdv8 to anyone… but….they fall foul of the latest Ulez charge, so you might be in a good position to buy one nearer to London and get a better price, as some owners will be moving them on. -unlike me, in the Ulez zone! The car is too good to ever be sold!!. |

I was fixated on low mileage and bought a 2012 with 48k on it, but in hindsight that meant it had spent many years sitting around doing very little, and the subframes on mine had a lot of surface rust - possibly as a consequence.

It’s no different to any other vehicle…..it’s a car & cars go wrong. Admittedly it’s more to service than a family hatchback but if she’s looked after by yourself or a decent Indy, emphasis on decent, then she’ll be fine. Starter motors, alternators, battery’s all play silly around 80k-100k. Service history is important, mileage less so.

You should get nearer 30mpg out of a TDV8 4.4 if you drive it sensibly. Don't rush into buying one before you know what to check and inspect (which is quite a lot) and have driven quite a few to sort the bad ones from the good. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Absolute beauty of the girl there. I'll see how it goes Monday with this one. Yeah definitely can happen to any car, its currently on Nexen RU1 tyres I believe which isn't awful I don't think. It does full service history so I just have to see the whole thing and check everything! |

My tuppence worth is that it’s always about the condition and service history over the mileage. My last 2 cars have been high mileage (150k+) LR Disco 3 and now the 2012 RR Vogue TDV8. Both were in excellent cared for condition, with the service history to back that up.

I paid decent money for a 2012. But it only had 55k, no advisories etc etc...

I bought my 2011 TDV8 with 87,000 miles off eBay and it's now on 123,000. Never driven better. I had the diffs oils etc all changed, new inlet manifold and that's all. Had it 5 years and just got back from a 2000 miler to France and back. Not a flutter from the old girl.
