Peak Range Rover?

Watched Harry Garage's latest video https://youtu.be/LS54AJSadT4 where he and Jeremy Clarkson praise their L322 TDV8 - and claim that the L322 might be (or is?) the peak of the FF Range Rovers.

We're really happy with our L322, just a versatile and remarkable vehicle to drive and use! Classy looks, sturdy and usable. Over the years quite a decent maintenance budget, but nothing compared with the depreciation of a new L460 (at > £195k here locally).

With the recent +15% price increase of the L460 - should we really put that much savings into a new P550e AB to get the latest and best, or just continue to use our great L322? (We also own a Mini Cooper S Convertible, and if/when we get the new L460, we will have to sell the L322, I think).

Any other having similar thoughts?

Keep the L322. It will be worth more than the L460 in a few years time....

The other thing is what criteria do you use to measure "latest and best"

The rear seats don't fold flat in anything after the L322, so if anything that's a backward step, I'm sure there's more if you got the newer stuff back to back and compared it to previous generations.

Thumbs Up

As someone who now has his 10th range rover over a 40 year period I am reluctant but have to agree.
The classic was ground-breaking but had to be upgraded, the P38 was a brave attempt but realy was beta testing on the public. The 322 was the sweet spot and although the 405 and 460 have added many features and gadgets they have lost some of the magic.
But their are no pockets in shrouds. letters not necessarily in the right order

+1 with what Dixy said. L322 all the way (and this from someone who has owned 2 x L405's and 2 x L322's). They are a future classic (if not already) SDV8 AB MY 2019

I liked my L322 TDV8 with all its quirks like a crap gearbox, failed turbo's, rusty tailgate and blown suspension bags. It is an easier car to drive around town than the L405 being a little shorter. The only thing that is a real eye waterer with the L322 is the road tax, I'd rather have £10k a year depreciation than pay that extra £300 road tax.

Sometimes though, I wish I'd kept my no more depreciation L322 a while longer. At least until the gearbox gave up completely.

L322 was great, I think Land Rover was on the ball generally at that time. The Discovery 3 was the best disco in my view a perfect balance of comfort and utility. It all started getting a bit to form over function from then on. MY23 PHEV HSE

My L322 (which replaced a Sport) was superb and I only sold it because of an electrical fault nobody could fix. I'd have kept it a few more years otherwise.

My L405 is an unremarkable replacement. It's very nice and (amazingly) hasn't broken yet, I like it very much but it lacks somehow soul. It is more like an appliance.

I haven't driven an L460 yet, I expect one will be my next one when they filter into the used market.

I've read what Clarkson has to say on the L322 (he still has one as a daily basher), and I'm inclined to agree with him. At the price they are, if you can find one that works with a decent history, they are excellent value for money. Peak Range Rover? Perhaps, but I'd not go backward and buy another. If I was coming into a Full Fat from something else, then a good L322 is a superb entry point. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

I had some regret swopping out the 322 with the 405. However mighty pleased with the L460. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
