Based on the post below and on other similar posts on the internet, does anyone know if the sun roof drain corrosion is also an issue for the fixt sun roof or only for the retractable sun roof?
Would I be correct to assume the fixed sun roof does not have drains as there should be no possibility for water ingress?

I’d be pretty confident to say the fixed glass roof is bonded on (like a windscreen) as it’s likely to also form part of the structural rigidity and so no need for drains or potential associated corrosion issues started to be reported with the opening panoramic roofs  Jonathan

Thank you Jonathan, exactly what I was hoping to hear. I will most likely limit my search for a fixed sun roof / no sun roof 405 then.

I’ve owned L405’s with all three roofs, in my view, the fixed panoramic roof is perhaps the sweet spot, as I very rarely, if ever, opened the sliding roof. Obviously others will have different views on this though  Jonathan

I'm with you, AFAIC it's a total waste of money, if I wanted a convertible I'd buy one, can't understand why the UK market always have them fitted when the rest of the EU don't....

I've never opened mine and probably won't till it needs repairing, then I may open it, squirt Tiger seal all round the edge, close it, wipe the excess off and job done......!!!

I was at a garage who were fixing this issue on a Rangie they had in, not too bad a job to get to the drains, remove what's left and bond in a flared copper pipe, some rust prevention and then it should be sorted for good... Defo a DIY job, nothing hard and no special tools needed, just a tarp in case it starts to rain.... Pete

The risk of buying a secondhand car with potential hidden issues due to sliding roof drains is not worth it for me. Even if it is an easy fix. Best to stay clear and chose a car without. There are still plenty of other potential issues left …. 😞
