I have been informed my right (primary) Turbocharger is LR022790 and the left (secondary) Turbo charger is LR044563

With the L405 having the same engine are the turbochargers from this vehicle compatible with the L322's with the same 4.4 TDV8 engine set up.? I ask as I assume you can get some good low mileage parts from an L405 being broken including the turbochargers.

I appreciate most folks may consider getting both turbo's replaced if one is on the way out but is it reasonable to suggest that the right hand primary turbo is more likely going to break down as it is the one that is in use 95% of the time. The secondary turbo is therefore under less strain as it is not working nearly as hard as the right hand turbo unit which is very evident when the air filters are changed and the one covering the secondary turbo is always clean as a whistle.

London Turbos are very well known. They do a full turbo assembly exchange service or a rebuild kit for the primary turbo. There's a 2 year warranty on their parts.

I'm interested to know why you are considering changing the Turbo. Do you have a particular problem?

Some time ago a member fitted a new L405 4.4 to his L322. IIRC he found that the L405's turbos were different and had to fit L322 turbos.

My garage is basically a Land Rover parts centre for the L322 TDV8 as I have accumulated all sorts of parts to throw onto the L322 when it breaks

I am currently missing turbo's from my collection

and before you ask....yes I am keeping my L322 until either it gives up the ghost, or I give up the ghost (and I have more parts to throw at the L322 to keep it going than to throw at me)

Interesting Graeme, and a shame if it's true.....anybody else had issues putting the L405 Turbo onto an L322.

The turbo's on the 4.4 are very reliable and you would be very unlucky if you needed to replace them. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I think I'm understanding the thread now - Buckie wants to acquire turbos as spares to store in the garage, should he need them one day.

JayGee....yes my research shows these ones aren't the problematic ones and hopefully it/they will never need changing.

Like I say I am amassing quite a collection of parts. I have propshafts, driveshafts, exhausts, struts, air bags, suspension arms, full front and back knuckles, alternators, batteries, starter motors, the works.

I even have a full (4 parts) sub frame in my garage which has been shot blasted and powder coated.
