What's best to clean grubby boot cover/parcel shelf?

Hi,

My cream boot cover/rear parcel shelf is looking pretty grubby so would like to see if I can get it clean, but not sure what with as can't work out what it's made from... looks like a woven material bonded onto the reinforced plastic of the boot cover itself.

Was thinking of just trying upholstery dry cleaning foam (i have some simoniz stuff).

Any experience anyone?

Many thanks

I had the same issue with a sand coloured one. I used washing powder / hot water mix with a soft brush and also some Vanish. Then I used the wet vac to dry it off. Repeated a couple of times on stubborn stains. Not perfect but a lot better than it was.

Mine is sand as well, this is what I did.

Hit the stains with some agressive stuff, swarfega on anything oily, some autoglym upholstery cleaner on the others - good scrubbing where needed. This left "clean" patches so I put it on garden table and gave it all a good scrub using 1001 and then rinsed with a hosepipe, kept the back dry as possible.

Left it to dry although I had to put it back while it was still damp due to the fact it started raining.
Looks spot on now and none the worse for a good soaking Geoff

Depending on how grubby your shelf is I have used AutoSmart Brisk Dry Foam very good indeed. It's great for the headlining too as it doesnt over-wet the surface. Smells great too!

Edit, just ran out to the car and cleaned mine:-

Before, with general grime:

Gents, thanks very much for the tips.
No massive stains on mine, just 4-5 years of atmospheric pollution - dont think parcel shelf has ever been cleaned.
From your posts looks like a dry carpet/upholstery cleaning foam + elbow grease seems to do the job.

Will have a go and try and post some before and after photos.

Thanks again!

sounds silly but...

With a cream interior i keep baby wipes in the car. These are used very sucessfully in cleaning the parcel shelf. little elbow grease required and drys very quickly!
