Squeeky brakes are down to the pads vibrating. It should go as the discs and pads bed in. A goad coating of copper grease on the back of the pads should stop the squeek. The knock could be suspension or drive related. Does it know when you put the car into drive? Does it knock going over bumps etc? What millage and is it a V8 or TD6?

Sorry mate I'm on my iPhone and it likes to randomly change words. Lol. What I ment is does it make the noise when the cars in drive? Do you know about the well documented problems with the GM box in the TD6? The knock could be transmission related. If it is get it checked well inside the warrenty as a new box is the best part of £2k.

A quick low down: the GM box (the one fitted to the TD6) was "filled for life" with fluid. This oil over time breaks down and if not changed can cause catastrophic failure of the box. As the TD6 is getting older not Hess problems are appearing more and more. GM have since reducedthe life of the oil to 60k miles I think to stop the failures due to fluid degradation. Faults range from knocking, slow to engage drive, juddering, rough gear change and big bangs. If you engage drive and don't get instant forward motion it could be he start of serious problems. People have had no drive for 5-10sec after selecting drive. Do a search for "transmission failure" and have a read. Your problems may not be linked but atleast you will be armed to know what to look for as this is the biggest problem the TD6 faces. There are loads of people here who will help in any way we can. Have paitence and I'm sure we will work through all your problems/issues
