Retrimming Parcel Shelf Ideas and Thoughts

A massive thanks to Cam-Tech-Craig for sorting me out with a parcel shelf for the reclining back seats in my newly acquired L322.

Once I’ve found time to go and fetch it I’m going to have it re-trimmed in leather to match the rest of the car as it’s currently the wrong colour for the car and it seems like a good excuse to make it that bit more my own.

Anyway, I’m sitting here pondering ideas and wondered what others thoughts were…

The seats on the Range Rover are solid black leather on the outside and have perforated leather in the middle like this. (I don’t have a picture that’s clear without the little fella sitting on the seat).

With the car being an Autobiography, it also has the leather headlining which is also solid down the sides and has perforated leather in the middle.

(Matt Stevenson’s picture that I found on Google)

I’m utterly useless with photoshop so this is a quick scribble done from my iPad. However, I’m wondering what it would look like done something like this:

With a black leather the same colour as the seats on the edges, and a perforated black leather the same as the middle of the seats in the middle, with white stitching the same as the seats to join the sections.

Now, I know this is utterly ridiculous being something as trivial as a parcel shelf, but, I’d like others opinions on what they think this might look like as I’m kinda struggling to picture it. In my head I think it might look good, but I’m struggling to see it.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome Smile

All I'd say is that I've seen a few damages on RR perforated leather due to the little holes, get something caught on them and it can leave a nasty mark that would probably of been nothing if it hadn't caught the hole, if that makes sense.

I don't think doing it as you suggest would be very noticeable unless you looked for it...

Having said that it would look unique and I'm all for that...

Years ago we used to spray faded parcel shelves with a satin black rattle can, build up a few light coats and it makes the shelf look like new..... just saying... Whistle Pete

Whilst some may think this is going a bit OTT, I think it's a great idea, it will tie in with the rest of the leather and complete the luxury look and feel of the car. Thumbs Up
