air suspension problems

alright im new to this forum, for some reason ive fixed all my other cars myself gearbox changes to new brakes through helpfull advice from forums. then i got a range rover with a problem and never thought bout checkin for a forum was about to get bummed of a main dealer when a mate mentioned fullfatrr. Very Happy ive been thru and i seem to have a new problem.
Ive got a 2003 HSE id just got back from garage after a air susp inactive message then the air suspension went really low on the back i tryed hightening the car, the light flashed but nothing (and yes doors were shut) then after few hours leveled its self back out but light on the dash said it was in offroad height when the height of the car was normal. tryed lowering but nothing. next day it seemed sorted light in the right place ride height looked ok, so i thought id give it a test .. it lowered spot on Very Happy but then didnt heighten. got back in the car few hours later and it was normal height. took it out for a spin and it lowered to motorway height but then didnt raise again. the light flashes as if its goin to but nothing :/.
ive now locked it in motorway height and was hopeing for some friendly forum advice Very Happy

cheers scott

Welcome the mad house. I'm no expert but would guess your compressor is on the way out. Probably need a new one. Mines similar as the compressor is very lazy. It does rise eventually but takes it's time.

I had air suspension inactive, then self leveling inactive. Car was level. Turned out to be the self leveling sensor, which wasn't expensive to replace.

Sounds like yours is different.

just seen your other post. Sounds like you have a few problems with the car. Did you buy it private or trade. Does it have a warranty? If it does get the compressor changed. Eventually the EAS will stop working as the compressor overheats as it becomes less efficient. A new ones about £300 so not cheap. If you have a warrenty get it changed. The suspension should change heights within a few seconds.

Make sure you don't end up just accepting the problems. Mention trading standards and rejecting the car if the problems aren't sorted and if things run beyond the 3 months they will still be honouring the work.

As for the EAS the car will self level when your out and locked. I've thought WTF a few times as the cars hissed at me and moved round. Not a worrie but she is taking longer to move between heights so I will need a new compressor in the distant future.
