I have been offered a set of 20" alloys with Dunlop ST8000 that have done about 2000 miles by a friend at a bargin price as he is fitting 22"s. This is what is fitted to my 05my 4.4 and is all I have used.

Question 1 - The price is right and my wheels have a few scuffs on them but I will probably not need them for about 18 months. Can I store them for this length of time and if so how.

Question 2 - My vehicle spends half its time in England and half in Scotland, I have been happy with the Dunlops in both areas but I have not tried anything else. Is there a better tyre, I don't want it more road biased due to the time spend in Scotland in the snow and on estate tracks. I have read reports on American sites about Vredestein Wintrac which is available in 20", anyone tried these, about the same price but I don't get the new wheels although I am not that fussed about looks as long as a vehicle is mechanically sound although I appreciate some people like to cleam and polish hence my friend selling his wheels.

Make sure that they're kept in the shade, preferably under cover (this will prevent the tyres being attacked by UV from the sun) - they can be kept in this manner almost indefinitely ...

Lower to 1bar in the absence of a proper tyre rack stack no more the four high cardboard in between and yes cover

Do not use any rubber cleaner etc on the tyres

Yes tyres really are personal Me I'd never fit winter tyres for all year long use I'd stick to Contis in 255/50/20 all day long

Get some 19" Rims and fit Pirelli ATR's IMHO they are about the best compromise tyre you can get

I Run 19's in Good Year MTR 255/55/19 for serious Mud on my D3 & TDV8 FFRR And Pirelli ATRS all year on the D3 & from Sept on on the FFRR the rest of the year Roadtyres are contis

Vredestein Wintrac is a very good winter tyre, quiet and very comfortable. No problems with any snow situation XJC, RRV8, Series1 86 and 107% of real pleasure

Are the Wintracs suitable for all year round use as I can't be doing with swapping over for winter and summer, had enough of that in my Land Rover trials days

No, the wintrac is a pure winter tyre, for all seasons you can drive in 255/50/20
