I got into mind and turned the ignition on and the wheel nearly chopped my legs off, was fine as soon as I turned ignition off, but as soon as I turned if off, down it went again and again

Just had mine done under warrant, and apparently whilst they do it, they are under instructions from Land Rover to replace the seat module at the same time, please don't ask me why, it's just what I was told

First mine dropped completely which adds a whole new level of excitement when driving and the wheels all over the place!!!

Once the ignition was off then on again the wheel would only tilt down, in & out. Must have been a right sight driving to the garage. Had to lower the seat in the end so i could get in!

I actually have to pay £90. Company won't cover some labour charge??? Something has to be removed to fit new column but that ain't covered.

Still £90 is better than £950!!!!
Thumbs Up

It is a VGS 12 month extended warranty (plan 4). It only has a £1000 max payout in any one claim. But as the last few days prove it does the job. Got it as part of my SC purchase from a Indy dealer.

Cheers

So got the sc back today. Cost me £85 in total as the warranty covered the rest, about £900 I think. Wasn't the plastic bracket but a tiny peice of metal about half an inch long that had snap off of the column. Must have been my lucky day as me and the garage were surprised that the warranty paid out. Anyway it saved me acre quid so I ain't complaining.

Washed the car when I got back and noticed rust bubbles showing on the black trim around the Windows. Can these trim be replaced as this is the only cosmetic fault on the car.

Any ideas how to get rid of it. Seems to be on every door trim. Worse on the rear doors.

Cheers

These peices just lift off, start at one end and keep going.

They are about £40 each.

Mine was £900 with the old column in exchange. Was told a complete new unit would have been the wrong side of £1600!!!! Shocked

Thank god the warranty paid out. Not the kind of bill you need after owning the car just over 3 months. The dealer i bought it from was lucky aswell as if this had happened 2 days before there would have had to fix it as it was still in there 3 months cover.

Think everybodys happy all round

Were there any symptoms prior to these failures?

Mine seems to have a mind of it own it sometimes just motors down to it lowest tilt when I start the car, sometimes when I park up the motor runs to move tilt the wheel up but sometimes when its already at the top the motor stays running. The switch still works fine and so if it happens it can be adjusted manually and if the motor is running and nothing moving a flick of the control stick in any direction stops it.

Should I be getting ready for a big bill or quickly getting some third party warranty Whistle Geoff

No symptoms mate. The little metal noggin thingy (technical term) just snaps and thats it. The steering wheel will just drop on ya lap and move freely up and down which is slightly awkward when driving!!! your problem sounds like something else maybe electrical related??

Mine did exactly the same I played about with the memory seat buttons changed the default to memory 2 and this seemed to cure it [touch wood] Rolling Eyes
