Hi Guys,

Got home from work this evening and now whenever I lock the car, the alarm starts going off within a few minutes.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing, but I looked at live values -> complete list -> BCM and all the last 8 triggers just state "Volumetric sen"

Does that suggest a fault with the sensor itself? Any idea how to stop it triggering? I'm only single clicking the fob so it shouldn't even be activating the motion sensors.

Well that didn't work. Will try the fuse next.

Looks like fuse 36 is the battery backed sounder. Fingers crossed...

I wrote with exactly this fault on here this morning. It's fuse 43 bottom row 12th fuse from the left in the glovebox fuse box. Ignore the blank/empty fuse spaces. Removing 43 killed my alarm. HTH. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Hi. Saw your post but didn't want to hijack it.

The face-lifts seem to have a different fuse. It's 36 on mine. At least it hasn't gone off for a couple of hours!

Been chatting to Patrick at Gap but it's a bit inconclusive. Apparently the triggers are an untested feature.

It sounds like it might be a faulty motion sensor looking at the trigger, but it still went off with them disabled so I'm wondering if it might be a failing battery in the siren itself - had this on my p38 when the battery back up died. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Thanks. I hadn't realised the facelifts had different fuse boxes but then it's LR. Why make it easy?
Obviously I was concerned you'd got the wrong fuse but tonight I'm better informed. 😳 Rehab is for quitters!!!

On my 2003, a second press of the lock button turns off volumetric sensing. I need this when camping as when my fridge turns on, its fans disturb the air and set off the alarm. Ron B. VK2OTC

On the later ones, it's the other way aroubd (ie 2nd press enables the sensors), but even with the sensors not active the alarm is still going off every few minutes. At least, it was until I pulled the fuse.

I'm starting to wonder if the iid tool trigger events might be a red herring as there doesn't seem to be a time stamp on them. They could be historical events which is leading me back to the battery backed siren again.

Anyone ever changed the battery in one? I used to have a link to a thread for a p38 procedure, but that's long gone. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I had the issue of a random alarm sounding with my 2012 last year. I even once had it wailing when the car was actually being driven! Like you, I eventually resorted to pulling the fuse (36) and the problem was solved.

However, I later discovered that:

1. Locking the car with a door ajar didn't give any warning. Unless you watched the car when you pressed the fob to lock it, you could easily walk away with the car left open. The 'chirp' which would normally signal a non-locking event (door ajar) works off the alarm sounder.

2. I could no longer trickle charge the battery from the (white) towbar electrics plug. It appears that as well as the alarm sounder, this fuse also interrupts the main 12v line to the white towplug.

Recently, I've reinserted the fuse (36) and the alarm hasn't gone off....... yet.

I do wonder if a failing back-up battery was the cause of all the issues. Hopefully, it's totally dead now! I bet I get woken in the middle of the night now after writing this......  The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

I've ordered a 2nd hand sounder - can't seem to find a new one.

I'll see if that makes a difference- seems to be such a common unit that you can even buy batteries for it.

My internal sensor was repeatedly causing the alarm to go off. Eventually removed the roof housing that contains the sensor and found a very large spider wandering around in it. Put the spider out to play elsewhere, reassembled the housing and never had a problem since. Might have been coincidence but….

I did think of that but it still goes off every few minutes with the sensors disabled.
