The parts diagram for the 4.4 TDV8 doesn't show a cooler whereas it does for the 3.6 TDV8 so maybe it's not needed. |

Depending on the routing and the rest of the hoses it might be possible to fit an aftermarket cooler in there. We use them a lot on the race cars, and I've got a Mishimoto one fitted on the Impreza (sticky cut slicks and a quicker rack really cook the fluid on that, plus general high engine bay temps). Companies like Mahle also do pattern replacements for other OEM cars (lots of the bigger engined BMW's like my 335d do, plus Merc and Audis etc too) so it's not inconceivable that they'll do one for the FFRR or that something doctorable might be available to fit into the space. |
