Heathrow Terminal 4 Short Term Car Park

Has anyone taken a FFRR into the Heathrow Terminal 4 Short Term Car Park? BAA quote 2m clearance, but there is nothing like a report from someone who has done it. I plan to lower the suspension and lock it.

I hit the roof of my Disco 3 in the Gatwick North short term on the entry height banner and avoid multistories now as much as I can.

I have no issue with the terminal 5 multistory as I guess when they designed it they considered the fact a few visitors would be in large 4x4 and people carriers and provided 2.5m clearance! 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

A FFRR is 1913 mm tall in off-road height and 1863 at standard, so a 2m barrier should be no issue at all.

If you're unsure, stop at the height barrier and have a quick look ... Regards,
Mick

Mick

Thanks for the stats. I am hopeful it is not going to be an issue, still smarting from the scratched rear door on my Disco 3!

Still like to hear from someone who has actually driven in that multistory with a FFRR.

I remember going onto a multistory car park 25 years ago with a Land Rover. The height barriers were OK, but they didn't take account of the newly fitted fluorescent tubes fixed to every concrete cross beam.

Once in, there was no way to reverse out, only option was to drive forward and take out quite a few light fittings -needless to say I haven't revisited. Well it was their fault - their height warnings were inaccurate....

and talking to a few friends this is a fairly common occurance - so ignore the height barriers and make your own judgement - I prefer to keep an eye out through the glass sunroof and drive slowly.

Incorrect height barriers does seem to be the norm. In a local shopping centre the signs were correct, but they added new hanging signs in the car park. There was luckily enough clearance for the RR, but I always go in there in access mode (locked) anyway.

Not practical to do this at Heathrow, but when in doubt, I usually take the missus' car the first time I go somewhere with a height limit and have a look out for other FFRR's or similar in the car park.
