Seeing as I seem to enjoy pain owning a 3.6 TDV8 over the last 3 years, which I absolutely am still in love with, I thought I’d buy myself something ULEZ friendly, a nice 05 645ci, what a beast- this thing moves well- thank god for the head up display to keep me on the right side of the law!!!!
Didn’t like these when they first appeared, thought the looked awkward and not BMW like at all- but as I’ve found with lots of bangle era cars- the design has aged really well and I now find myself eyeing them up when I’ve seen them drive past so thanks to you tube I was originally looking for a 630i- a nice balance of nice car and not terrible mpg- then I heard a couple 645’s and that was it- the 630i idea went out the window!!!

I had a 545i saloon a few years ago. Loved it but it was as much use as a chocolate teapot in snow. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Gotta say I didn't have any issues with my e64 in snow or any other conditions. It was very sure footed and there's plenty of torque to get moving with almost no throttle. Decent tyres and you're good to go.

I bought a set of winter wheels but never got round to fitting them, and used the car year round in the north east round rural County Durham and Northumberland as well as countrywide without ever getting stuck anywhere, including untreated back roads. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

I fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymettrics on my 6er. They were version 3 on one end and 5 on the other as the 5 didn't come in both sizes with staggered wheels - but I can't remember which were which!

They were excellent. Had about 14K miles on the set when I sold the car and still had 4mm tread all round; not bad for 330ish BHP.

I don't drive like a bell-end so don't spin up the tyres often, but I still had plenty of fun in the car.

One tip - get the transmission fluid changed immediately and do the bridge seals and mechatronic sleeves as well; the 6HP is well known on them for developing harsh shifts and these little jobs transformed mine. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
