There are many reasons an engine will smoke, the colour of the smoke is helpful to narrow it down but there is no one cheap reason...

Cheers Pete. The dealer hasn’t said what colour but I’m guessing it’s white. Just a guess though. It is spares or repair it’s on eBay but I swear I’ve seen it before on here or eBay a while ago I’ll put a link in it might jog someone’s memory lol. It’s up for 9k but he will take mine in as part ex. He did say it had the chains done so want to see proof. This is the link

It is a tidy looking car but that interior has definitely been tarted up. Ivory seats don't look like that after 115k miles.

I've only glanced at it, but, compare it price wise to this one:

Yh I did see that about the mot and it did cross my mind thinking why and also has been through bca as it’s got a unit stocking finance on it. So there are a few flags drawn up. I’m thinking that the chains may not have been correctly hence the smoking but again not sure.

I wouldn't touch that car because of the unknowns - but to set your mind at ease, unit stocking finance is nothing to worry about - it's a specific category of finance used by car dealers to provide funding for buying stock, and it's legally required to be cleared upon sale (or before). 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica. Previous V8s: BMW 645Ci, P38 4.6, P38 4.0, Merc CL500 Previous others: Honda x1, Volvo x7, Rover x6, BMW x6, Ford x1, Mercedes x2, Skoda x3, VW x2, Renault x2, Citroen x1, Mazda x3, Nissan x1, Audi x3, Kia x1, Fiat x4, Subaru x3, Austin x2, Triumph x2, Jeep x2, Hyundai x2, Lexus x1, Mitsubishi x1, Saab x2... and some others I've forgotten! |

I imagine the fault will be "restricted performance" but I doubt it will give a fault for why... Pete

Well been there today and engine is knocking and bloody hell it’s smoking thick white like a cloud behind it from it. Something badly wrong with it. But just thought I would let you know also took a video of the engine if anyone wants to see it. |
