what's an se got extra??

as some of you may know i am in the market for a vogue se, there aren't that many out there, so to broaden my horizon i may consider a vogue,
my question is what is different between a vogue and an vogue se?
i know that some have rear entertainment and the se comes with air cooled seats (do all the se's come with air cooled?), apart from that what else is extra Question

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Orkney Grey

I think differences will greatly depend upon the year you're looking at.
In past years (I'm not sure what age, hopefully someone else will enlighten) you used to get Rear entertainment as standard on SE, but not any more.

I recently had the same predicament as you would have seen from the search link above.

For the current year/new models the differences are :

SE gets :
Better leather (more comfy in my opinion) - Semi aniline, perforated & double stitched (standard vogue has a piping instead of stitching around the seat edges and harder leather)

Perforated Cooled front seats - if you get a hot back when driving as most blokes do, this is fantastic !! (can be added as option on vogue, but leather is still not the same as se)

Adaptive Cruise control (vogue only has standard cruise control)

2 extra pieces of veneer wood in the console (14 piece instead of 12 piece)

Electrochromatic auto dimming mirrors

20" wheels (vogue has 19")

Brushed sill plates with RR lettering (instead of just chrome)

Side loadspace nets

Homelink garage door opener (if you have a compatible "Johnson control" opener on your gates or garage you can open from the car without using usual remote)

You can add most of the above extra's onto a vogue as options and the end price from new still works out a bit cheaper than the SE price.

Most of the difference in price is because of the leather costs, then adaptive cruise & then the bigger alloys.

If you could specify semi-aniline seats in a vogue, then I would have done that and saved a few grand, but you can't Big Cry The optional cooled perforated leather is still the harder oxford.
So I ended up going for an SE purely because I felt the comfort & leather feel was just that little bit better than the standard.
When adding the cooled seats to a vogue, the perforated oxford leather is a bit more comfy than without, but still not quite as soft as the semi-aniline on the SE.
I also didn't like the piping on the vogue and prefer the stiched look.

Some argue you won't see the cost of extra's back when you come to sell, so an SE will always be worth more rather than a fully loaded & spec'd up vogue, BUT we all know you're gonna loose loads on new or nearly new prices within a few years, so does it really make any difference ??

Best to just go and look at both. If you like the vogue leather and the other bits don't really bother you then certainly you'll save a few grand going for a vogue rather than an SE.

hope that helps Very Happy

If it's of interest if you go onto landrover.com and price up a vogue with the extra's & an SE here's the difference :

SE £ 76,135.00

Vogue with added :
20" wheels
Electrochromatic exterior door mirrors
Adaptive Cruise Control
Heated and cooled front seats with heated rear seats
Side loadspace nets
Homelink (garage door opener)
£ 73,290.00

Difference = £2845

So, nearly £3K for different leather, brushed sill plates & 2 extra pieces of wood.

Oh, but that leather is so much softer Thumbs Up

Hmmm, some of those options are new then. I have an 07 VSE and it's missing:
Adaptive cruise (has been available since 05 IIRC - at least it was on the Sport S/C)
Loadspace nets
Garage Door Opener

Dom.

The wood is cheap for them to produce. The leather is so much better though I agree and do think it justifies the extra cost. You're forgetting you also get two extra letters on the tailgate - 'SE' which must be worth around a grand in snob value haha.

Ah yes "SE" = Seriously Expensive ! Rolling with laughter

But, yes, I agree the different leather is worth the extra.

The only problem I had making the desicion is that actually, I wasn't worried about the Adaptive Cruise or the brushed sill plates or the 2 extra bits of wood !, or even 20" wheels......

When you take the cost of those off the price of a vogue you're suddenly about 5 1/2 to 6 K less, which then starts to make you think is it worth it.
BUT, I sat in so many and each time the leather of the SE just makes it so much more special..........

One thing I'm not sure of is has the leather changed from vogue to se in previous years ?
Has it always been the case that the SE has a finer grade with stitching ?

VSE Leather was only like this from MY2010. Previously Vogue and Vogue SE had the leather with piping. Autobiography had semi-analine from MY09.

Rolo - have you actually tried ACC? It really is fantastic - I'd never used cruise control before but now I use it all the time.

Hi,

No, not used it yet.

I've got a 61 plate on order now, so have to wait until September 1st Big Cry

I've only ever had standard cruise on vehicles before which have been fine for the limited use I give it.
To be honest I rarely drive on the motorway, so it's not something I'll use all the time, hence not really bothered about having it, but as it's standard I'll have to live with it Laughing

I'm not entirely sure !

I presume the 11.5 version as that what the price list shows.

What are the changes for the 2012 model ?

All I know is it'll be like the one on the landrover site as shown now with the 8 speed rotary select and 4.4 tdv8.
Had to have Orkney Grey as they can't do Stornaway - looks pretty similar though so I'm happy.

** if you mean will it be this "new" type
Then no - & if that's what it's going to look like, I don't think I'll like it, so glad I'm getting one now in the style I like Very Happy

Hang on, am I going mad ? Is that picture what the new 2012 / 13 Range Rover will look like or is that a mock up of an Evoque ?

Now I'm confused ! Confused

No not that hideous beast! I hope that the 2013 RR will look nothing like that!

Yes you will probably have MY11.5 like mine. Rotary selector has been around since MY11. Changes for MY12 are on another thread on here. Body coloured door handles etc that's all Smile

It's a bit more than that! If you price up the extra's you get with the SE, they would probably cost a hell of a lot more if you added them on individually, I suspect the wheels would cost best part of £2845 as an upgrade (I'm assuming the 19's are standard?) Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!
