2013 passenger deployable side step???

I'm not sure if I've activated some sort of hidden mode but the step now comes out when it wants but more often than not it does come out when the doors are opened

Backstory

Usual step comes out and jumps back in and my resident Dwarf gives me ear ache so I lubed it up and got it working again but in the process the front passenger door managed to get itself in a pickle with the soft close and the exterior handle was rock solid, luckily I managed to free this off by gently pulling on the handle whilst using the interior handle through the window.
Packed up and assumed everything was good, next few trips I get ear ache again that the step isn't working.

Further invest and the step doesn't even attempt to move, tried coaxing it out while pressing unlock but nothing.
No fault codes.
Messed about opening and closing the doors a few times and noticed that because I had the key with me it kept trying to unlock even though it was unlocked and on about the 3rd try the step would come out.

It's now the same, if I unlock the car and it doesn't deploy, press unlock a few times and out it comes???

What have I activated or what is broken?

I've even had the battery off and it's still the same Censored Current

It's not a lubrication issue, that bits sorted. It's electrical, it's as if the passenger step isn't getting the signal to deploy but if you keep pressing unlock it does eventually deploy without issue Current
