Interested to see how you get on with the ARB bushes, as the rubber ones seem to wear out fairly quickly. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Not as productive as as first thought. Ended up up going away in the Van.
Both airboxes had to be removed to fit the new Headlight bulbs. Easy enough job. Big difference from original to LEDs. Pity they try to burn a hole in the road about 6 foot ahead of the car. Will need to be adjusted a bit higher.
Someone fitted K&N filters. Pretty clean so would suggest they are quite new. Not a fan of oiled filters. Will prob buy stock and replace them
Did not attempt the ARB bushes. Does not look and easy job. Will tackle when I have more time. Pain with the nuts being on top and hidden
Oil leak in transfer box. Looks like its the Seal and not the casing. Another job to look at
The Apple interface never arrive before I left with the Van so will need to look at it next time home. Other issues that have sprung up. Air con stopped blowing cold air. Lower tailgate stopped lowering when the button is pushed. Can lower by hand and then will power back closed. Driver rear side dropped height when left sitting for a week. This car is going to keep me busy I think. X5 40d |

Extracting the oil via a suction pump will drain exactly the same as removing the sump plug as the drain tube 'is' the sump plug |

I used the draper oil extractor on my previous 4.4 tdv8 l322 and my current l405 and had no issue removing the full volume of oil.

gee the corrosion in the longitudinal rails at the front really gets going eh? Has anyone replaced these or managed to protect them better? 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

The pump was fine, it kept going. It started sucking air which would suggest the sump was empty. I made sure nothing had moved or came lose and tried again still sucking air. I thought it weird so tested the pump in the waste oils and pumped fine. I searched YouTube and another guy had a similar outcome (not sure which pump he used). Will be removing the sump plug going forward to be 100% sure the sump is empty. Cant go wrong that way.

That's northern Scotland cars for you... I would seriously look at doing some corrosion prevention work asap! The brake lines are still crappy old steel! As well as the internals of the brake calipers, the drive shafts and several other parts under the cars...

Thanks for the info, will deffo start looking at preventative measures. Yeah, quite a low mileage car this which looks like its sat about a bit which doesn't help

The suction tube is attached to the sump where the drain plug would be so you can't get anymore out with that method ![]() |
