Mine has been brilliant over 12 years and 200k miles it has never let me down. I have had to replace stuff as it wears out - in fact I am about to replace the belt tensioners water pump aircon compressor and anything else that is suspect did them all about 100k miles ago.
So very happy with it

i've had 4 variations, td6,4.2sc,westie and a tdv6 l405...

never had a breakdown in any of them so yes, i've found them pretty reliable..... ... - .- -.

My first (2002 TD6) was faultless. My 2004 4.4 V8 (same as yours Sandy) had a broken water pump x2 and chain guides at 120,000. Otherwise fine. My 2011 TdV8 had a cracked inlet manifold. pretty happy so far.

I had an issue in the first week but that was a battery issue with it having been stood on a forecourt, since then it has ran perfectly. 4 months in and about 5k miles and still loving it. Mrs S is now looking at an Ewock. First time FFRR owner

had an old 2002 v8 for 9 years... and apart from a couple of secondhand fitted gearboxes, and normal service items, it was good to me. the death knell came with a host of issues, all at once... and I scrapped it (sold for spares in covid era) now been running a Westminster 2012 diesel. it came with full history up to 185k, and its now on 210k. had a few minor issues (for a higher mileage car) but no unknown or intermittent issues. still looks bang on, and drives sublime. just enjoying it a lot at present. but will have to pay £12 to drive it soon. but determined to still enjoy it. I do my own mechanics, so have a slightly better understanding of the car.

Obviously responding to this thread will be the kiss of death, but in the 6 years I’ve had the P38, I’ve done 26k miles and she’s not let me down. We’ve taken her to the Alps and up to Scotland. Dave Hodgetts at 4x4 Development near Droitwich looks after her mechanically so she gets what she needs.

Between both of mine in the 4 years and covering probably close too 100k in them both, mine has seen a recovery truck 3 times.

2 for alternator problems. 1st time was the original alternator and then I fitted an rtx from euros so gave up again 3 months later.

Next time was a split brake hose so I wouldn't really call it a break down

3.6 TDV8, only had it for 3 years, no problems at all so far, just preventative maintenance, EGR blank and an excel file to tick off loads of items to check when servicing, battery died shortly I bought it (had been standing still for a year or so)but all good and wafting along nicely

Mines been ok up to recently, 2004 td6. done the 2 battery thing, solved a whole host of issue's, added paddle gear shift, lovely mod that, android, stripped the sill covers off to reveal certain horrors, but welded up both sides on sills, though jacking points were still good, and have cut out the rot from rear arches, (in door shuts only), and got that all painted up, but THEN it failed mot on rear sub frame, (2 years after replacing front sub frame) as lots are now, so beware of this. biggest job on the car. Grrrr.. This thing is severely testing me, but it is getting on. Great looking drive ornament at the mo..

Mine's been 100% reliable. I've spent a small fortune replacing parts but it's not broken down on me. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Guess you have too think these vehicles are the best part of 12 too 21 years old on the l322 chassis so naturally things will go wrong but we never really come on here too start a thread too say

Not really thread worthy, barely starts a topic and probably for the admin and site owners causes them something too do I guess

Mine had been horribly unreliable over the first two years of ownership (bougt with173K Km) but ever really left me stranded once and that was just weeks after purchase.
Every single problem I've dealt with has been a result of neglect and abuse. Took a lot of time and money turning the car around but still cost less than a low-mid tier brand new vehicle. Had I owned it since new, it would have probably been one of the most reliable vehicles out there.
It's a daily driver doing 100km per day and twice as many during weekends.

Shouldn't write this probably but neither my Sport nor my Real Range Rovers have ever let me down. From a 2002 to a 2004 to a 2007. So, just lucky? Just replace the things that brake down or tend to brake down in time. Doing approx. 10 to 15 K km. a year. Now need a new aircon pump (I think) and probably new rear discs. Wil be dealt with. Great cars, great reliability, great comfort, feel very safe in it!
