2004 4.4 v8 lpg issues?

Im looking at a Range rover v8 vogue 4.4 thats been converted to lpg its done over 90k
its being sold by a car dealer.
Is there anything I should look for in particular as I dont want to buy a money pit.
or is there any big bills that would come up in future.
The car will be part of the family fleet so to speak and will probably cover less than 10k a year but I intend on keeping it for a long time provided its reliable.
or should I just go for a td6?

When was the LPG system fitted? Most come with a 3 or 5 year warranty... It should aslo have been serviced every year/10,000 miles which is just a filter change.

what service history has it got..ask to look at it and take your time, see if you can see who the previous owner was, i did and called them, he was a second owner and had traded it in with stratstones for a new range rover, he gave it the all clear. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

just a point to note, i have run lots of LPG cars over the years and some take to it better than others.

i am still fairly new on this forum and learning all the time about my FF. one thing i would say though it is a known fact that the bmw engines go well on LPG i ran my E38 very well for years.

but the Jaguar engines are not as good, that is all Jags. the valve seats tend to go very quickly and you should really change them for harder ones to prevent problems.

i don't know what engine is in your car, but it may be something to take into consideration.

just of course my opinions and experiences. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

A 2004 would be the BMW M62 engine... They are a popular one to convert on the continent, and are becoming more so here. I had mine converted for £1100 less than a year ago. I do 2-300 miles per week and I think it's already covered its costs.

who did your conversion as it may be more cost effective to buy a cheaper one and just convert it

Profess Autogas did mine:

http://www.professautogas.co.uk/

I had the Stag 300 Premium kit fitted as it integrates with the engines petrol ECU and uses its sensors and adaptations rather than just using fixed settings.

I did a review of them here: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic3659.html I see their price has gone up with the 20% vat now to £1250.

It does mean that you get a 5 year warranty with the LPG, so if you get an issue you do have some support. If you inherit a bad LPG system then that can be a nightmare.

I had a BRC Sequent LPG system fitted to my 2003 4.4i V8 5 years ago when the car had done 28,000 miles. It has never skipped a beat and has now done 102,000 miles. Pictures in my gallery and I will get around to putting it in the for sale section eventually Whistle

Agreed on all above.

I run BRC Sequent on mine too. Can't fault it and it's superb. It does 4000 miles a month at the moment Smile Used to have:
