Edward (son of Eddie) built up the logistics business and sold it in 2004, so he has at least had a few years of enjoying the rewards of his labour. Sad that in these modern times there are still so many not reaching retirement age and with the retirement age rising it seems to be a goal that fewer will ever reach

Not sure if it was his or his brother's but one of them owned a rather bright non-standard coloured RRS at one time
Found it - it looks like a Monte Carlo Blue Overfinched RRS

Yes, competitive world out there in logisitcs.

Coincidentally one of his lorries hit one of our school buses last week.
Fortunately it wasn't serious and they had just dropped the kids off.

Condolences to the family...

..but I have to say.. I know business is hard but I really don't think its acceptable to ferry kids around in lorries... there are laws against that.

You are right tim he bought it from LLoyds at Carlisle, it was shown on the documentary about Stobarts. he didn't like any of the LR colours so it was repainted with a BMW colour. More money than sense i think -he lives in a rather large house in Cheshire so I guess it goes well with local footballers!! Ex D1, D2, D3 owner now 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE

Ironic that his life was also limited to 56 ?

In all seriousness though... RIP. His trucks have entertained me playing "eddie" for every motorway journey we ever make.

Every time you see a Stobart, you give the passenger a dead arm, whilst shouting eddie. Or vice versatile ! if they're quick enough !
