Carplay & AA purchase. Looks very good Value

After loads of search and help from Stan I eventually purchased one of these. @ £300 its too cheap not to try.

https://www.iceboxauto.com/range-rover-evo...droid-auto

Looks very good and watching his demo video it seems to tick all the boxes for me

He also sells larger screens but not sure I will use it enough to justify £700. Time will tell I guess

Hopefully will get it fitted this time home and report back SDV8

the whole screen replacement is tempting but with the optional DAB module its nearly twice the price of the 'carplay/andriod auto unit..

did you get the free rear view camera as well Paul?

Hmm, don't know. Nothing on the invoice to say free camera. Will have to check when it arrives.

I work away, not home till next weekend. Hopefully everything will be there waiting for me and I can get fitted once home.

Yeah I did consider the none DAB (again very good value I think) but thought if I do end up going with the bigger screen I would want DAB and nearly 700 is a good chunk of cash. SDV8

I'd be interested in this but I would want to retain the original navigation too.

My car has the heads up display which shows the turn and roundabout information which I quite like...

Is the tempting modernity of Google maps going to be enough to help me get over not having the info in the heads up hmm Laughing

Wee video for info below.

Not sure the score with OEM satnav as its the nav button on the right you push to change from OEM to the interface. Maybe if you hit the nav button on the screen itself you can still use OEM nav (I would think so). Wont know until I get it fitted

keeping the OE navigation would be ok if you could have current mapping but for the 2013-2016 years the updates have stopped at year 2019..

this is ok if there have been no new roads built since that date..

i get the turn info in my speedo dash but still tend to glance at the center dash for directions ..

ideally we should be able to get up to date mapping for our OE nav or be able to side load something like IGO maps on to it.. ... - .- -.

Wee update.

Chinees stock I would suggest. A bit disappointing as it says the below on his website (where I purchased).

"Free rear camera with every order - 2 Year fully protected EU governed warranty - UK dispatch"

On checking ebay shop it says UK, but gives nearly a month delivery time.

UK dispatch, once it arrives from China Rolling Eyes

Why cant people just tell the truth!!. Anyway, Info of you do intend purchasing

Another 7 to 10 days before I can expect it according to the email today SDV8

Ah well you see. Apparently it is UK delivery. Pretty much like I said above, China, then posted from UK Laughing

He told me to read the delivery email I got when I ordered it but when you click the link and hit deliver information it just closes again. Handy!!

I explained I don't really care, it just annoying chasing an item that is 3 weeks away. If I knew that from the start my expectations would be set and that's fine.

Anyway seem like a couple weeks away yet SDV8

So eventually got round to fitting. Did not do a "how to" as its very very easy. remove some trim and remove some screws. I fed the wires for the control module down into the passenger foot well. Again easy enough to feed the wires down, only having to remove the trim above your shins

If I do get this to work installation is around 90 mins I would say and doable by anyone even with very basic diy knowledge

Bad news, it never came with the USB lead as advertised and does not work Rolling Eyes

As you can see from the pics the Apple and android appear in the top left of the screen. No matter what I tired I cant get to to display full screen. Even when I get it to display without showing the satnav nothing will work.

I emailed the guy but he is away until Tuesday. Seems like he only ever works Tuesday to Thursday. not ideal.
