NavTool installed - screen is very dim

2003 Rover - As the title states, I have successfully installed NavTool with CarPlay and it's working fantastically... When I'm in the garage with the lights off or driving at night. When I start up my truck the factory display is plenty bright but when I switch over to NavTool it's incredibly dim. I have adjusted the in-app brightness to its max and the dial by the headlight switch is set to its brightest as well. When I contact NavTool support they tell me that my screen is burnt out - but the brightness works great outside of their app. My questions are: has anyone here done the NavTool installation on their truck? If so did you have trouble with the brightness? Is the screen potentially burnt out for the mode NavTool uses but not the factory info/nav screen? Any info anyone is able to provide will be greatly appreciated. I'll trade for info on how to find/use ignition-enabled power in the back and front of your truck 😆 I'm desperate - I really want this thing to work! Thanks!

I don’t have a truck Very Happy but on my L322 with NavTool fitted my screen is normal brightness.

Have you asked Navtool if they have had any similar reports? John

Thanks for the reply. Your screen is different from mine as the 2005+ is touchscreen. NavTool is kind of trying to skirt the issue. That's why I'm here trying to see if it's an issue outside of their control or if their product needs work. If my screen needs reopening I'm happy to do it, but I'm not convinced. They're being less than helpful.

I have just seen that about the screen differences. Bit basic, but perhaps worth re-checking the connections?

Good luck with it, Thumbs Up John

How does the navtool on your 2003 work? Did you connect it in the boot area and select TV on the screen? I have a 2003 aswell and would be very interested.

It works wonderfully. I recommend it - if they get the screen brightness issue sorted. And that may be a 'me' thing. It's incredibly simple to install - no work in the dash is required. It's all in the boot and automatically switches to the Android/Carplay screen when you start your car. The most challenging part was finding an ignition-controlled power source back there.

Update to my issue: They asked me to send pictures of the screen with NavTool on today. Hopefully, we can either confirm that my screen is burnt out or they need to increase the brightness for this model year specifically. More to come.

Still interested in anyone's knowledge of how the screen works. I imagine it switches to another mode when NavTool is enabled - I never had the TV module installed, so I'm not sure how that works. If there's another mode aside from the default, factory on-board computer display, which can be burnt out separately, then I'm happy to replace the screen to get this working.

Sounds good, keep us updated. Which version specifically did you buy? I only see the Carplay only version but I use an Android.

It's the same unit. The NavTool does both Carplay and Android. You select which one you have in the menu. They are not different units. John

Could you fix the problem with the screen?
