After some time mulling over getting the car professionally detailed, I took the plunge after bagging a 50% Black Friday deal.

I used a local firm, in Alicante but they also have a branch in Marbella.

Westie went in for a 3-day deep clean, paint correction + polish, and a three-coat ceramic coating protection treatment.

She looks and feels really quite awesome!

Made me chuckle seeing her nestled in the workshop alongside Lamborghinis.

Next up on the job list is fitting her Silver-colour Supercharged alloys for winter and a full service next week.

If any one is considering getting a ceramic coating treatment, I highly recommend it.

Looks great matey, nothing better than seeing a car shine. Just keep on top of it with a fair few coats of wax through the year and will always look good. That's some serious tyre shine you got on your tyres there.

France here - I just joined the FFRR club a week ago when I purchased my first RR ever, a 2021 S/C, the day before xmas.

I'll post about it later, but I came here top say this: in a bit less than 6 months, my family and I will be moving to your neck of the woods, from Paris France to sunny Valencia, where we just bought a plot of land to build our dream house (to go with the dream car).

Might be fun to hook up later down the line!

In any case, well done with the deep clean + ceramic, she looks awesome! I'm thinking about doing something along those lines before taking the car down to Spain, but I haven't decided which treatment is best yet (ceramic, wax, glass, etc.)

If it's been ceramic coated, don't wax it, it won't need it and it could react with the ceramic.

Thanks, calicoj, I am very happy with the results.

So far I’ve only had to rinse the car once in ~2 weeks as just stays cleaner for longer. When I did, the water is almost allergic to the paint and just beads and flies away, interestingly to see.

On your car I would absolutely spend the money having a paint correction and ceramic treatment done. It’s revolutionised our car…and it’s 10 years old.

And I would absolutely endorse moving to the Valencian community it’s fabulous in so many ways. Did I mention Christmas Day was almost 25 degrees?

And any FFRR is rare in these parts. I have seen only one 2010+ L322 in 6 years, no L460s…ever and perhaps just two L405s. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

Hey Tommy! Sorry for the late reply and thank you for the tips on ceramic coatings and Valencia!

My dealer just told me that my L460 would be delivered to me around May 17, so it's almost here!

After scouring forums and Reddit on the subject, it seems that most people favor ceramic over PPF. Given that Valencianos are considerably more civilized than the French (at least compared to Paris) when driving, I'm starting to think that ceramic is indeed the best way to go, especially considering that the car will sleep in a private driveway and will very rarely be parked on the street.

Btw, I have a question for you: do you have a RR dealer in the Valencia area that you'd recommend over the rest? And conversely, are there RR dealers I should avoid?

Some feedback from my experience with PPF and Ceramic (GTechniq).

PPF (3M):
+ves = Saved the front from a few stone chips. Also from someone opening their car door - left a mark on the film but did not damage passenger door.
-ves = Installed onto a Porsche Macan. As the Macan has this fancy grille. Some edge of the film came away, very slightly, over 2-years. Also a very large stone chip pieced the film. Where the film was not pieced by a stone chip, in some places, it left a mark on the film itself. But still better than chipping the paint.

Ceramic (GTechniq):
+ves = Gave some protection from stone chips. Also better protectioned, like PPF, from bird dropping(!). Easy to wash. Also easy to "top-up" by using C2 top up sealant. Excellent water beading.

-ves = Obviously not as resistant to stone chips as PPF. If you have a damaged panel, that needs say paint/ respray, you have to have the ceramic coating removed and reapplied - although the same applies to PPF.

Both options are good but neither is cheap. But I feel the price-performance of ceramics is worth it.

I've been very happy with the ceramic treatment, UV protection and long-term DIY maintenance appealed to me. Plus, PPF on a 10+ car didn't make sense. If the FF was new, that's a different story.

In terms of LR dealers, I've only dealt with the one in Alicante and only for parts. So, I can't comment on others. When I inquired about things like fitting a towbar and gearbox service, I got very wishy-washy responses which really put me off.

I would say, FFs are rare here and even dealers won't see many of them so they are probably no way near as qualified to work on them as they should be, IMO. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior
