Just remember that on the 4.4 fitting a 020 in place of the 019 will require some effort modifying the positive battery connection as it restricts the battery length that can be fitted.

Just get the standard size battery - it works well for normal usage. If you need extra capacity for running extra electrical items fit a 2nd battery in the right side boot space. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

An 020 will fit in a 3.6L pre 2010 but not vehicles 2010 onwards, with the fan and other gubbins in the tray.

If you don't have diagnostics you don't "have" to tell the BMS you have fitted a new battery, it will learn it is new after a sort time... Pete

I'd love to believe that, but my 2012 4.4TDV8 when I bought it had recently had a new AGM battery... within a couple of months of my buying it. I was hopeful, but... I ended up fully charging it off the car with my CTEK (in Recond mode) a few days after I bought the car. I wanted to make sure the FBH was working properly for timed (and remote) climate which had failed the first time I tried it. Checked the draw alive and asleep - no sign of major quiescent drains like many suffer from and the electronics shutting down as expected. After charging the battery fully I refitted it and a couple of days later timed climate worked 100%. Drove the car down to Suffolk (280mi, more than long enough to make sure the battery was replenished) and the next day, no FBH - runs for a few minutes then shuts down with a low battery condition (later confirmed with Webasto Thermo Test diagnostics). Sit in the car for 10mins and the 'battery low' warning appears on the screen. Drove home 280mi a couple of days later. Decided just to ignore it for a few weeks and then probably buy a new battery. During that time I tried timed climate, manual startup, checked the FBH was actually working properly, ran diagnostics, checked live data for charging voltage and alternator output. The battery showed all signs of being unable to hold charge or a charging system fault - but I could see the charging system was working and with the battery charged off the car it seemed to hold charge fine. Was on the point of buying a new AGM battery, but before that I thought I'd try another full charge off the car, then refit, reset the BMS, and see what happens. That was a couple of weeks ago and the timed climate has worked perfectly every time I've used it (which has been daily for most of that time). I've been able to use manual climate start on a couple of occasions, and haven't seen 'battery low' since. I haven't been doing long journeys in that time either. All I can say is that since I charged that battery (which I was thinking was probably shot) and reset the BMS, things that didn't work previously now do. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.
