upgrade media on L322

Hi All,
After dabbling with the idea of upgrading my 2010 L322 3.6 TDV8 to a 405, I've decided to keep her and update her. The media unit is still the original and I'm thinking of installing the screen from unique auto develpments -

Anyone got any experiance or good alternatives that keep all functions working?

Thanks in advance.
J

Have a look a Navtool, a few threads on here - the one I fitted was easy to do and was a great bit of kit, keeps all of the original functions too!

A few of us have the Unique Auto development unit installed. It's the only good option for cars with the Denso screens (generally 2010-12).

It does have some quirks but nothing show stopping and does depend if you are using the CarPlay or AA side. I've personally found the CarPlay side to a bit more reliable!

Thanks guys. I have a 2010, not sure if it’s a denso screen but plan to use CarPlay.

If I was going wireless Carplay on a 2010-2012 I'd go with Navtool (or at least consider it!)

Hi TD, thanks for sharing this very detailed post. Navtool is fast becoming the final choice.

Regardless of the route you go, consider running a USB line as a backup/plan B to direct connect into. I wish I had done so to tide me over until Google fixes this "looking for Android Auto" issue that I'm intermittently stuck with (and likely will run one once the weather improves here Smile 2012 Supercharged L322

I’ve had the IDCORE CarPlay unit installed in my L322. It’s a good system once it works. It does have occasional glitches such as not recognising/ connecting to your phone with CarPlay so I agree with the comment about having easy access to the usb input as this is unusually the fix.

However, the aftermarket support with the system is very poor ( for instance there’s no way to register your device for software updates ) AND it’s really, really expensive. TDV8 4.4 2012

Steve,

Agree about the cost. But are not all of the fully integrated solutions in much the same ballpark ?
Not aware that any of them are inexpensive.

With regard to software updates, I think you may be right in saying that that there is not an explicit product registration mechanism for this. However, there is a page for software updates on the UAD website :

https://unique-ad.co.uk/software-updates/

The page contains a link for checking for new firmware/software availability for your current version. You'll find that you need to input your order number and software version details. I've still to work out where the latter are to be found.

For info, this page currently shows 2022/09/05 as the date for the most recent update for the L322 products.

DrRob,

If we're still taking about the UAD offering, this You Tube link should give you a sense of what's involved.

As you surmise it's not trivial.
