Just buy it and enjoy it before you get old and die Smile

Oh, and there’s a lengthy recent thread on Pistonheads under the Finance section that considers the increase corporation tax (CT) comparing it with PAYE tax rates, concluding they are virtually identical. Several of the business owners on there have decided to downsize their business or even leave the country, and most share the view that the government is wasting (polite term) our taxes.

I’m picking mine up on 17th March, paying cash just because…… MY23 D350 HSE

AJ

I gave up trying to figure out the tax game.

I just didn’t bother with putting a car on the company as it was marginal.

Better to just charge mileage.
I didn’t spend time doing it , my secretary knew if I had gone anywhere and created a list and once a year I had pay day.( tax. Free) . I’m not sure but there may be a system of actually calculating the cost of running your car and apportioning a higher than 0.45 per mile charge. I really don’t know but your accountant will!

Spend the time creating income and not on my expenses was something I decided on very early on. My accountant always wanted me to find some expenses , but I couldn’t be bothered. Just keep making the money.

That said ( back in the day) there is supposed to be some advantage in being partly trader partly ltd company. Don’t know why or if currently works like that.

I will pm u something else.

Agree that you can spend far too much time tax planning (but that's enough about why I went into farming!!).

This vehicle does however offer significant savings if bought within a company, and suffer the current very low BIK, as AJ summarises. Time will change the BIK rates, but as Phil noted, we'll all be dead one day!!

No help to this thread to Range Rover drivers whatsoever, however if you are willing to compromise...

I was in the LR showroom last month and spied a Discovery with blacked-out windows.

Thought Id take a look in the back, opened the door and to my surprise... no rear seats!

Behind the blacked-out side windows on the inside is a plastic protective cover and same in the rear.

Turns out its a LandRover Discovery Commercial.

Looks like a standard Disco from the outside and a rather cramped two seater "van" on the inside.

Now that's a niche car designed to be tax efficient ! Rolling with laughter

Not sure if they have dealt with the issues with the load capacity, it’s open to interpretation if it qualifies for reclamation of the vat?
This then effects the BIK tax option.

I’ve done 23k miles in my D350 HSE.

Tyres and brakes still good for a while yet. First service was circa £700 but that was as a result of 2 JLR vehicles being serviced at the same time. Massive amount of oil involved in the service oil change apparently.

Averaging 35-45mpg in a combination of local and long distance driving.

The car is magnificent.

Thanks C but I was referring to the P440e Smile but your info is still interesting and your car must be one of the highest mileage private cars out there. Current fleet:
2020 McLaren 600LT Spider
2020 Mercedes C300 Cabriolet
2023 PHEV 440 SE
1992 Lotus Esprit turbo
2019 Alpine A110
