Whilst at a main dealer last week, the salesperson said that when a L460 pre-order has been made and a price increase thereafter levied, if the customer complains or tries to negotiate to counter said increase, the dealer just offers them their full deposit back and doesn’t negotiate, because the dealer knows they’ll sell the car anyway. |

Surely when a deposit is made a contract is formed you agree to buy the car and they agree to supply the car at a price quoted at the time. There's absolutely no point in paying a deposit if the contract isn't mutually binding, you've shown your commitment, they should show theirs. JLR don't inspire confidence in customer relations, the loyalty of their customer base despite this is enviable. BMW i3 Electric Car

This is correct except JLR are happy for you to pull out of the contract at no penalty to you. They know they’ll sell the car/slot for no problem at all at the higher price. |

But a contract is a two way thing, if they're so sure about being able to sell the car anyway, why ask for a deposit? BMW i3 Electric Car

It won’t be long now before the balance of power changes, as evidenced by increasing cancelled orders. MY23 D350 HSE

New Quarter which brings new prices for the L460. Absolutely crazy new prices and can see plenty of cancellations incoming. |

I put a deposit down on a new D350 HSE order last week and the builder is showing a £3k (2.5%) increase.

A friend of mine put a £20k deposit down a year ago and was asked last week if he wanted to sell his deposit for £30k and cancel his order.

At the dealer recently I was told that if one placed an order now the contract would say that one would have to accept any price and spec changes LR might make between order and delivery (which could be several rounds given the anticipated 12 - 18 month lead time) or withdraw from the deal and get the deposit back. I couldn't be bothered with that and will wait and see how things develop.

These prices really are eye watering and it will be interesting to see how the depreciation pans out. Not so much in the next few years but over the next 10 years. Let’s assume the £180000 version holds 25% of it’s value in 10 years, £45000 seems an awful lot of money to pay for a 10 year old RR (even allowing for inflation) but on the flip side £135000 is a lot of money to lose if you keep your RR 10 years.

I had a call from my dealer yesterday. Still no build date. He advised me that prices were going up but my price is protected. I placed the order in February 2022. |
