Hi all need some advice please

Had a suspension fault message and read the codes - rear right height sensor.

I changed to sensor but I'm still getting the same issue. The car will rise and fall.as it should and when running will maintain height and levels ok..however it falls to the bump stops overnight. Although not every night!!

I'm pretty sure I have no leaks

All other sensors are showing around 2.8 volts but the one I changed is showing zero. The part I changed was aftermarket not original.

I have a ton of questions
The after market has same socket but 3 pins not 6 as original..am.i correct that these are compatible?
If I check the socket with a multi meter should there be a constant feed?
Would a faulty sensor cause the car to drop when switched off?
Is it OK.to drive with one sensor not working (appears to maintain correct height all.round)

If you have a late L322 you need one with 6 pins as the extra pins feel the height signal to the adaptive dynamics system for the shockers. The earlier cars don’t have that so only 3 pins.

I’d recommend getting the genuine LR one with 6 pins…. Plenty of issues on here with aftermarket. I replaced a front one a few months ago and ended up with a genuine unit. No issues.

What Mark said, pattern ones are awful...

I expect yours is giving a wrong reading and the car wakes and levels the suspension and just keeps doing it over night until it hits the stops....

Should be OK to drive in the short term if it is back up to height... Pete

So some good news today

Started the RR up and it rose off its bump stops

Now the sensor appears to be reading and on the dash display everything is pretty much level! Plugged in diagnostics and the sensor is now getting power!

The whole thing just needs height calibration now I think.

What year is your car? If it’s got CVD shockers not sure how the adaptive dynamics is working….. that’s separate to any suspension height systems.

As don’t know your year it could be it’s not a late facelift L322 and someone has replaced the 3 pin with 6 pin previously. I think it will work on the earlier cars without issue but I’m not 100%.

Hi - its a 2007 3.6 tdv8

The 6 pin I took off yesterday was definitely the original

I read that the 6 pin has been replaced with 3 pin. 6 pin no longer available

What's wierd is that yesterday the new sensor was not recording any voltage but today, after switching everything off over night and the car dropping, it's now woken up and operating as it should!!

They were 3 pin until 2010 when the 6 pin was needed to add the height feeds for Adaptive Dynamics, in addition to the existing height feed to the air suspension.

The 6 pin was then dropped for the 3 pin on the L405 as the air suspension and adaptive dynamics were fully integrated together.

Was your new sensor a LR032106?
I found a picture of the connector that has 6 holes but only 3 pins used.
Also differences if it has halogen or xenon headlight bulbs!!
