Removing Paint Specks

We had our building painted at work today, unfortunately they didn't tell any of us, and those of us who were parked close to the wall now have black masonry paint speckles from the roller over our cars.

I'll be getting the car professionally clayed (which they will no doubt refuse to pay for), but I'll re-wax it myself at the weekend. Any other suggestions? The interweb brain that is google seems to suggest Claying is the way to go...

But, FFS.

I would have said claying as well. Cant think of anything else other than a machine polish.

Apparently because I have a dark car and it's black paint they don't think it warrants any remedial work. Admittedly you have to look hard to see the paint, but if you run your hand over the surface you can certainly feel it!

I'm taking it to my detailing chap who will give me a written report of the damage which they can either pay to be rectified or I will ask my insurer to pursue them. Although that might be more trouble that it's worth?

My fwit neighbour painted his wooden fence recently and used a sprayer. I now have red paint flecks all over the right hand side of the car and all up the front bay window on the house.
I told him about it and he apologised. He gave me some stuff in a bottle which he reckons will remove it. I haven't tried it as it could be anything.
The paint flecks come off when you scratch them with a fingernail, so I'm not too fussed. I just wish people would be more careful. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Your Detailer will definitely be able to sort it out, I'd have thought Autosmart Tardis would be good at removing this....

Make sure they pay for it, black specks don't show on a black car.... Censored ....!!

Good luck....

Snow foam it, clay it with plenty of lube if there's still trace apply an abrasive cleaner such as dodo juice lime prime either by DA, rotary or by hand mate Thumbs Up 06 4.2 SC Bonatti Grey/ Ivory

I agree to what peeps are saying Clay it first.

Go to halfrauds and get the meguires clay kit, comes with the detailer spray as well.

Most of the claying should get it off!!

Then use a DA and clean it of then polish and then seal it with a wax!

Sounds like your weekend all used up !!! Very Happy Very Happy

I spoke to our COO, who is a car fan and always admires my RR (he and I have the nicest cars in the carpark) he's signed off any remedial work.

I got a quote of £50 to clay the car by the detailing guy I use for my engine. I clayed all the glass a week or so ago which took a while. I have clayed the RR before and it takes an age, so would gladly pay £50 to get someone else to do it. Although saying that, I spent nearly £50 in his shop this week on supplies.

Dont know about you Dan

Once I have clayed the car! yes its smooth and all that but it does need a good polish afterwards with the swirl remover !!

Always seem to show fine lines !!!

Or is it just me !

Claying shouldn't mark the paint itself, but it does remove previous wax/sealants/fillers. It's this that often makes the car look worse, unless you don't use enough lube, I always use 2 or 3 bottles, but then I make them up myself with water and 25% demon shine.

Then if you use Super Resin Polish you are only filling the scratches as it's mainly a filler rather than a cutter...

I would suppose after claying its the best to polish the car with a Polisher (rotary or DA) and use some good Products, for example (Meguiars,Swissvax,Chemical guys and many others)

I used Swissvax products on my RR and the paint looks sooo much better.

If Claying doesnt remove the paint specks you can wetsand. I suppose 2000-3000grit but after wetsanding you have to polish it.

Regards
Phil
