service mileage count down

My car was serviced last March 22 and since then it has covered about 3000 miles. I haven't really used it only pulled it out of the garage a few times and every time I pull it out the mileage gets lower. when I first got it it was saying 2500 miles in December 2022 and then it went to 1500 or something now today its showing 850 and my service is next month. Is this because I keep cold starting it with no runs causing the dreaded oil dilution? I am worried now if it gets to next month with some miles left. Is this normal?

Mods please move if this should be in tech, thx. overfinch modified

I had very similar issue. When i enquired i was told it was the normal countdown process for the yearly anniversary service.

I have not started or moved mine for 5 days and it has reduced by 200 miles !

@caymanblack:

Correct.

There’s a lot of information in this thread:

Your mileage is similar to ours, perhaps with lots of short runs also?

You will see in that thread that I’ve been keeping a log, and for me at least, 3.83 Service miles lost for every one actual mile driven, with our TDV6. This will vary a bit, of course but should allow you to calculate approximately when your “number’s up” so to speak! Thumbs Up “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

So today I moved the RR out of the garage that's all I have really done since owning it and it now says service due 0 miles.

It's booked in on the 14th of March, the dealer is an hour away will this be a problem?

Unbelievable this count down as every time it's removed from the garage down it drops massively.

Thx. overfinch modified
