How deliciously ironic if he should turn it into a footballer's and footballer's wives' car.

Indeed - The very market that JLR was trying to capture when they turned their backs on utilitarian vehicles and binned the Defender !!

The utility market abandoned the Defender many years ago after Land Rover gave up competing against the wave of Asian utilities and pick ups. If Ineos thinks that they can compete like for like with that lot and make a margin then they’re going to have a rude awakening. It’s just a matter of time before Ineos worked out what Land Rover did years ago.

I made a reservation but it’s been so delayed that I’ve decided to switch to L322 at 1/5 of the price

Christ, that's a mess - there's no cohesion, it's like the various key elements were designed in isolation.

IMO it's going to end up lonely and unloved like a ginger stepchild.

Or driven by one.

To go from nothing to this is an impressive effort.
There are some design changes I suspect will be made over time so I expect the Grenadier will get prettier/more handsome over time. 2000 P38 4.0 HSE auto - RHD - just needs a little love.

I cancelled my deposit last year. I'd sold my 2015 Defender (gratuitous pictures attached) but felt I wanted to wait and see if I still needed a £70k 'toy', as I don't really have use for its capabilities. It does seem well-engineered

Looking at the pic posted by 'Hanwellfields' the front bumper looked ridiculous, until I realised that it has several uses.... Seat / picnic table / crash barrier to move eco mentalists sitting on the road Thumbs Up / a platform for mechanics to stand on, or place tools when working on the engine and lastly a safe place for the mug of tea when working on the car. Seems that the designers have thought of everything Whistle

One more use just came to mind, when you use it as a chair...you don't have to look at what you have bought Rolling with laughter
