Hi all

My first post here, and it seems I will be a regular

I bought my RR a few months back and have quite a few things to fix. Most pressing right now is the Charging issue.

I parked my 4.4 tdv8 for two weeks, and upon return the battery was flat

I duly recharged battery and it held charge. I also put a 55W load on it and after 4 hours of 5 amp draw the voltage dropped from 12.8V to 12.2V.

So yesterday evening I fitted fully charged battery back and car started immediately. I started the 30km journey home.

It was not long before I noticed Alternator light and check engine light illuminated. Benoude boude to say the least LOL. I still had 30kms to drive to get home.

After 20 km basically all extra systems shut down. Last 10 kms was driving on a prayer LOL. Car did not leave us next to the road though!!

This morning I took it for a drive with a full battery until it reached temperature. I checked with a voltmeter and alternator is definitely not charging.

I need advice on how to fault find whether it definitely is a dead alternator (It worked fine one moment and next moment it was dead? No indication of impending doom?)

What can I check, like possibly fuses?

I am new to this board but will be looking for any previous discussions. IF you know of such a howto it would help a lot

Alternators don't tend to give notice of impending failure, it's a common issue....
