Was advised last week that Defenders are no longer attracting a strong premium. Possibly £500 above retail if selling to a main dealer. Maybe the supply chain on Defender is fixed. Not sure if this influences your decision but thought I would share. |

Anyone trying to obtain the best return should ask their selling dealer to SOR it for a small'ish fee. I'm not sure how many dealers offer this but mine does and it's worth asking as you get the premium and they don't.

DJIT: Apparently Defenders have some spec shortages, but subject to that the order to delivery time was said to be about 12 weeks. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

OK, so finally got a call from my dealer saying they are expecting my P440e HSE (Portofino Blue with Perlino) on 17 March. I ordered 6 Feb 2022 on a Personal Contract Hire so was beginning to think it would be bottom of the waiting list. As expected the audio is downgraded to standard and they have removed the space saving spare wheel (was an option when I ordered but they must have realised that a weedy spare can't cope with the PHEV's weight so no longer available). Otherwise no other options specc'd.

I would expect more than£500 for a missing spare wheel, others seems to be getting a better discount for the change in radio spec. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I wasn't very clear, the spare is being refunded in full and the audio to £500 which seems to be par for the course in other threads. |

You did well not paying the £5k price increase. That’s the first dealer I know that hasn’t passed it on. Are you a long-term customer? MY23 D350 HSE

I believe customers who ordered before a date in April 2022 are price protected from the manufacturer. Whether the dealer is honourable or not is another thing. My P530 First Edition was delivered at the price it was specced at in September 2021.

I had my iPace from the same dealer but I don't think I got special treatment, just that when you sign a Personal Contract Hire contract as I did in Feb 2022 its a contract with a specific price and there are no clauses to allow price variations as there may be in a purchase contract. Still a relief that they didn't wriggle out of it and apparently they tried but the dealer pushed back, or so I was told. Everyone wins as unless resale prices plummet their residual value when I give in back in 3 years will be higher probably than what they priced the PCH deal on and I save a couple of hundred £/month+ against what it would cost to PCH now. Not counting chickens yet as I still need it to turn up! |

Ahh, I think it’s because you signed a binding finance contract early on that made the difference and meant they couldn’t change it. If they had delayed the signing the contract until it was built, the dealer would have changed it to reflect the price increase. MY23 D350 HSE
