Can I charge my TD6 via the cigarette lighter socket in boot

Can I trickle charge my TD6 with my CTEK charger through the cigarette lighter socket in the boot?

Just thought I could loose the charger itself in the boot and pass the cable out the bottom of the upper tailgate seal, allowing me to lock the car while it’s charging?

From memory some Td6’s you can some you can’t. Depends on the day of the week your car was made l think. Very Happy
Try it and see if it works.
If it doesn’t work come back, charging at the rear can be done quite easily. Thumbs Up

Hi nicedayforit

Been out and checked and it does stay live, so I can now reverse the old girl up to the house and place the CTEK actually in the boot

Best place for the charger, just don’t forget it may be connected when you drive off. Laughing

Thanks (again) nicedayforit

Quick question for you (or anyone else reading in), had a new 110Ah battery fitted a few months ago, it was running low so fully charged it with CTEK til it was 100%, unplugged the charger and started the car and 'bong' HDC inactive and the height adjust button locked straight away.

I usually gauge if I get HDC inactive on the dash and unable to adjust ride height, it means the battery is low. I tried full lock left to right and back again, but it didnt clear.

Any ideas?

Is the alternator on the car still the original?
Have you ever had a reason to have the alternator checked of late?
How many miles has the car done?

Yeah, still the original alternator.
It’s a 2003 and covered 119k.

I checked the alternator recently due to my battery drain issue, saw a similar post on here so tested similar states, my results were.
Engine off. 12.5v
Engine running, no load. 14.14v
Engine off (4 days later). 12.3v
