Classic starter motor symptoms … the click is the solenoid throwing the motor’s dog tooth forward onto the flywheel … but then not turning. When it throws forward, the motor also closes over the contacts that complete the circuit to make the motor spin.

First thing to do is check the two batteries (if you have two) one may have failed and the other maybe backing it up but is failing as well... FYI the jump start post under the bonnet only gives voltage for the main battery...

It sounds exactly like the problem my 2012 322 had. It was cured by replacing the starter motor. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

Had this on an L322, you might not need a new starter, the click means the solenoid is moving but the contacts may be covered in carbon buildup. You can clean them up to be good as new as they are pure copper. I did this and had many many miles more motoring with no issues

Funny enough mine did this once, I actually called the RAC as I suspected the battery- anyhow while waiting for him to arrive I was idling my time away and for some reason just tried it again BINGO started no drama at all, maybe just one of those things Geoff |
