I have a 66 plate SDV8 Vogue with a few extras. It's great - comfortable, good range, decent performance when desired

I am tempted by the SVA. Second hand (or third etc) of course. Sharper handling, even more luxury, looks great inside and out. And of course that engine.

What I wondered was the range on a full tank. Tank seems a little over 100 litres as no need for adblue which restricts my diesel tank to (I think) about 80 litres. So that's a proper 20 gallon petrol tank with a little bit extra in reserve

On a decent run and floating at motorway and A road speeds without heavy use of accelerator/brake I wondered whether there is experience on the board of what actual range you get. Obviously using the full performance you will use a lot of fuel - I did have a V12 Daimler double six so I know what that was like (maybe 15mpg - so 300 mile range). But what is possible on a run - can you get 400 comfortably from a tank? Is a real 500 possible if you waft gently - probably not but I wondered?

Well 400 is easily achievable - at least it is for me on mixed routes with my normal reasonably relaxed driving style. I think 500 might be possible as I've seen 26+mpg on a long run, but not something I've ever tried to get. I typically refill when around a 1/4 or just under and that's at less than 400 miles. As you know, it all goes a bit pete tong if you decide to use the performance for a while, but worth it for the smiles. I've even got north of 20mpg while towing which none of the previous generation ever managed. Nevertheless, IMO its not really the right car if fuel economy is part of your equation... Mike - MPx

Guessing that the SVA 565 is about the same as my ordinary one with Duratracs in winter, my expectation would be about 430 miles on longer journeys (using super unleaded). With my summer tyres on I have seen an indicated range (probably optimistic) of 500 miles once, when I drove from Edinburgh to Portsmouth and back in two days, cruise control on m/way at speed limit, virtually no stops (red coffee cup appearing on dash etc). With SVA 565 I'd think 450 is about the theoretical maximum, but I'm generally thinking about filling up well before it's empty as one never knows when one might hit dense traffic etc.

20mpg towing? I'm not sure I've seen that. Only Range Rovers since 1988
