Was visiting my brother today near Swansea and popped into the one S.Wales garage that has the franchise as they had a prototype there.

Looks really nice up close, had a good 20 mins looking over it, very utilitarian look and feel.

Also like the look and feel of the cabin, love all the buttons Laughing

May very well be tempted in a few years time as a retirement gift to myself Whistle

I think I quite like the Grenadier too, if only they were priced (and made in the UK) as first advertised.

If they do take off, I can see an after-market front end "Defender" mod to the grill, making good money !! 2010 Range Rover TDV8 Baltic Blue Autobiography (2011 MY) - SOLD Sad

Christ, that's a mess - there's no cohesion, it's like the various key elements were designed in isolation.

IMO it's going to end up lonely and unloved like a ginger stepchild.

Or driven by one.

+1

It looks like its been designed by a 14 year old, could they not come up with a more rugged selector for the BMW box.

Great idea, poorly executed.

To me it looks like a love child that resulted in a drunken encounter between a Defender & a G-Wagon.

The have had one of their "Demonstrators" at Bicester Scramble a few times.

From listening to the assembled throng and those who managed to get to sit inside. Feedback seems to be consistent - not too much room in the front. The front headlight and "nose" seem to be unresolved from a design perspective. It may be the protective housing for the lights embedded in the grill make it look "off".

Back in October (I think) they had it towing a trailer and race car. It had no problem pulling etc - had lots of torque.

As someone mentioned previously, on this thread, the front nose looks a tad Japanese.
And I don't mean any offence, but it seems like a Toyota FJ Cruiser and late model Jimny, have been mashed together...

That front bumper seems to stick out far too much, I think it would look better with a large winch mounted and an A bar to cover that weird bull nose grille shape. Otherwise the huge bumper looks a bit pointless FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

I can’t see past the use of LR’s IP, him going back on his promise to build them in Wales, or even his politics.

I saw a photo the other day of the Grenadier with Tottenham Hotspur players.

We might see more of them with all Premiership footballers. Especially if Sir Jim also ends up buying Manchester United too! Whistle

Anyways - Here is another photo of one of the test vehicles that did the tour around the UK.

How deliciously ironic if he should turn it into a footballer's and footballer's wives' car.

That will be a hard image to shake off for those with the rufty tufty image ambitions that the car is aimed at...

All it needs is a lowering kit, a set of "banging" rims, some dark class and a loud stereo Rolling Eyes

Indeed - The very market that JLR was trying to capture when they turned their backs on utilitarian vehicles and binned the Defender !! 2010 Range Rover TDV8 Baltic Blue Autobiography (2011 MY) - SOLD Sad

It is utilitarian…. ALLEGEDLY One of the sales pitches /USP is you can hose down the front interior , supplied with drainage holes.

I just don’t do that amount of driving in muddy boots. Horses for courses.

Buttons instead of all these menus has a certain appeal! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

Forgot to say, it's really high and the one I saw had no side steps, so was a heck of a struggle to get into the drivers seat. Iggy/Ieuan
