Had an interesting chat with a chap here I. France. He is an ex LR mechanic amd has opened an Indy garage here.

Seems he has run a Sport 4.2 Supercharged on E85 for something like 10000 miles and loves it and fits kits to these engines to enable e85 use. I think it costs about €1 a litre her in France.

So what are the cons? Instant melting of all rubber components and steel fuel tank?

Maybe not instant but they wont last long (years). The more its used the better. E85 is extremely corrosive...will eat away while idle. Of course he may have replaced everything vulnerable with alternatives, but when Ford tried to engineer a version of the Transit to run on it, they gave up in the end so it cant be that easy. Mike - MPx

It’s not something for me anyway as I don’t do many miles, maybe 4000 a year.
But the idea interested me. I guess if it was that easy/safe everyone would be doing it.
