I am currently in a Tesla model S performance, 3 years old. I do have a 1990 Classic though as well

I am getting a little fed up with charging and build quality; the Tesla is a bit shall we say tinny and rattly.

I have been offered a brand new 440e, cancelled order. It’s an SE.

I plan to take it and order a new Autobiography in my spec and then swap in 18 months or something.

I realise this is like asking the choir if they want to sing a hymn but are you guys finding them ok? Any buyers remorse? How are you treated by other road users, any SUV hate going on? How quiet etc?

Do you think (crystal ball time) prices will stay high for a while longer?

Is this a bargain at £111k when I see similar on auto trader for £140k?

Basically do I buy this and order new and swap or just order the new one and slum it in the Tesla for another year or so.

Yes , if it has most ( virtually everything) you want…. I don’t think prices for new are coming down any time soon.

I wanted the AB version, but my HSE was highly specked… and happy with that . Missing a couple of things, but on balance it was good to take the early car. That said I was drooling over another a few weeks ago, but they won’t sell it to me as they want it as a demo.
There is a new gizmo, remote parking for those hard to get into places, so I’m trying very hard to wait for that to be launched. Then look at the numbers and the SHMBO relations! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Is there buyers remorse with my Tesla? Well I have had it 3.5 years. Faster than my 488 was, quieter, slicker but in the first 6 months it broke 6 times requiring service centres and tow trucks once. It is noisy on the motorway, the trims feel flimsy, the drivers seat after 32,000 miles looks like an e-class taxi after 300,000 miles…. It was fun but I am done with it and the queuing at Tesla chargers is now actually becoming a thing. I cannot have a 5 hour journey turned into a 7 hour one due to queuing for chargers.

For example my Aston Martin with a V12 does the journey from where we live in Suffolk to my Dad in the borders, 370 miles on one tank. 5 hours if no traffic and I don’t stop. In the Tesla it is a 6.5 to 7 hour journey today. If you queue at chargers as well as charging on a charger you can add to that.

I think this will get worse for 2 or 3 years then they will solve it and it will be fine, but by then my Tesla will be 6 years old and falling to bits.

Re: the Range; I went to the dealer and drove one; lovely and brilliant but I concluded just too large and showy for me, sorry.

However, they had a Defender V8 Carpathian edition, cancelled order brand new unregistered which is exactly the same price near enough £116,500. So I think I may upset the planet and go from a Tesla to a Supercharged V8 Defender instead!

I think manufacturers lose a little when all the models have the same dashboard, ICE screens, switches etc as then from a driving position there is really not a lot of difference between top spec Defender, RRS or RR aside from a little more comfort in the seats (I know it’s not really that simple, but…).
