Air filter

Morning all

So I'm going for a power upgrade soon on the range rover which is the 4.2 sc. Decided on the 10% pully and getting the folks at powerhouse to map it for me as well. Hopefully can get a switchable mapping system so one for economy and one for a more enthusiastic drive or when I'm towing the trailer and plan on embarrassing some kid by leaving them standing whilst watching a car towing another car leaves them behind hahah

Anyways any suggestions on which panel filter to go for. I know they don't make an awful lot of difference power wise but looking for a little more of a throaty sound.

Usually had piper cross or k&n in the past so what's people's thoughts on this then

Not the same cars I know, but I used K&N in my TD6 and ITG in my TD5 for years without issue. Just need to clean and reoil them occasionally.

There's an argument that if you ask a turbo or supercharger builder, they'll tell you which one had a free flow filter and which one had a paper filter. They all go eventually so go for it or use the cash for a takeaway. Your remap even with a paper filter will still give you a decent improvement. visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk

When I bought my 2004 4.4V8 petrol Full Fat I admit that I knew very little about the car. It was only when I ordered a full service kit that I discovered that I couldn’t use the air filter (which is still in the garage!) as my car had a BMC CDA (carbon dynamic air box) fitted to it. It was only then that I realised why it seemed to roar more than I expected.
To this day I don’t know if it was even suitable for the car or if there was any benefit (other than the noise) 😂 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀

Well overall I decided to go for the pipercross one. I doubt it will even make any difference power wise as they never really normally do. My impreza only squeezed an extra 2bhp from mapping with it on 10 year ago but for me it's more the sound

I put a K&N filter in a 4.0 Ford Explorer and straight out the box it contaminated the MAF sensor.
