Insurance Premiums gone up!!!!

Insurance renewal time, and premiums have have gone up! Shocked

2017 3.0 TD6 Vogue. 18+ years NCB. Fully Comp. 3 points SP30 (Sept 2020). Durham postcode.

Last 2 years with Esure £640 per year.

Renewal price £1,250!!!! Shocked Censored

Compare the market quotes:
Lowest was £840 with Yoga Insurance (bad online reviews for claims)
Next cheapest was over £1,000

Direct Line didn't want to quote at all

Nothing has changed from the last 2 years, same address, no claims or new points etc

Anyone got any recommendations for any decent and resaaonbly priced insurance companies? 2017 Loire Blue 3.0TDV6 Vogue

It changes on a daily basis.

FWIW I am with LV.

Edit: Oops, mistake, I am with Churchill. LV won't insure mine either! It's not their "type of car"

LV don't want to cover the car!

Got bored after 25 mins of waiting to speak to someone at NFU.

Tried AA £1,300 & Aviva direct £1,800

Ended up with Carole Nash for £1,100

Looks like RR insurance has jumped up for 2023! 2017 Loire Blue 3.0TDV6 Vogue

LV won't cover mine either, nor will Direct Line/Privilege.

Nov 2021 was with AA, premium £322. Nov 2022 renewal from AA was £869! I moved to Darwin at just over £400. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography

Had my renewal price come last week. Admiral want £805 compared to last year’s £520. Comparison sites and a few other direct ones can’t get it any cheaper but now waiting for a call back from NFU thanks to this thread.

Mine has gone up £65 to £245 with Tesco. If I look on the usual comparison sites I can shave £20 off but at that price, it’s just too much effort for so little return. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

NFU has not been great the last time I had a quote from them more than all the others in fact.

I,m now with Adrian Flux , at least I got a quote from them as the modifications with an Overfinch have caused even more problems. Big Cry overfinch modified

Mines £230 up £35 but that is because they now include legal cover. Just another reason to stay with the L322 rather than upgrade.

Running a quote on a L405 3.0 diesel vogue, 2015 came up with £315 on Confused .com 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I'm not sure why my premium quotes are mostly £1k +, my BMW 335i was just over £200 and the only change is the car. If the car was such a problem we'd all be on big premiums. First time FFRR owner

The premium loading on RR models has become significant particularly on those with keyless entry and start due to the well-publicised ease of nickage.

Premium differences are now much more likely to be influenced by other underwriting factors including location/postcode, age, driving experience, storage/parking location, mileage and class of use.

Source: I have access to insurer data and quotation/underwriting engines as a consequence of my work.

Does “ease of nickage” get reduced if in a locked garage?

The premium loading for the model doesn't change in those circumstances, but the premium mitigation for secure storage may apply...

BUT...

...not all insurers' underwriting criteria will actually offer a mitigation for secure storage in a garage. There's a number of reasons for this; firstly, that being inside a garage offers potential thieves a nice warm dry place to do their dirty work without being disturbed; secondly, that a theft claim may also result in an uninsured loss claim for damage incurred to the garage in the course of the theft (yes, you can claim for that against your car insurance as an uninsured loss); thirdly, some insurers actually prefer that the vehicle is parked on the street rather than in a driveway or garage as it means the likelihood of 'theft with keys' is reduced as thieves don't necessarily know which property the car belongs to.

Every insurer applies different loadings dependent on factors such as this and indeed many more (for example, amazingly, there's even a premium mitigation in some underwriting
engines for cars like MX5s with only two seats, as the number of people you can kill/maim whose relatives could then claim damages/who could submit PI claims, is reduced).
