I thought the problem with remapping the 3.6 was that the stock power is already close to the torque limit of the gearbox?

It's not on the limit, but if you have a worn auto box, particularly one that has had friction modifiers added to prevent slippage / harsh changes etc. then having the ability to push an extra 90 - 100Nm isn't going to do it, or the drivetrain any favours. It's not just about the longevity of the engine.

On an earlier point, Polestar remaps do things a bit differently - and from memory there is a time / distance limit after which they cannot be applied. Essentially the Polestar remap puts back performance removed by the second detune the test & development dept. apply (the first detune is to back-off from the known safe limit.) so it's not really a remap, it's more of a paid-for performance level option.
Similarly, VWG are well known for magically upgrading engine performance as part of a mid-life model refresh with some minor component changes and a factory software 'upgrade'.

Polestar remaps also include modification of the gearbox software to work with the extra engine power more effectively and presumably more safely. Never heard of outright power increases on other cars as a result of software updates but certainly some drivability issues can get sorted out over time. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

As per my original post I would love to hear from someone who has got a Bodsy remap on their 3.6 and what they think about the results. 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

I was not thinking about a remap until it was mentioned by Bodsy. I am happy with the way the car drives generally and am happy to take preventative measures to ensure it stays that way - EGR delete and gearbox flush seem the way to go in this regard. My question to those who have had the remap is to try to understand if the improvement is big enough for me to consider it on top of the other work as it will be cheaper to do it as a package deal in the quote I have been given.

Kit, I'm not as knowledgeable as some of the 'experts' on here but I had my last car remapped from 197hp to 236hp. I rarely used the extra power but it was nice to have in reserve when needed.
But it made the car nicer to drive. It just felt smoother with no loss of mpg. In fact it did more mpg on a steady run.
I would doubt any remapping should or would make the car feel worse to drive and I've never seen a bad review about 'Bodsy's' work, so if you can afford it I would have it done.

If Brodsy is supplying a BAS remap for less than they are on their site then what's not to like. Diesel 'tuning boxes' from the likes of DTUK (no comment) will cost you similar ££. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

It seems like as long as Bodsy is involved it should be all good. A man with legendary status it seems! 2009 pre-facelift 3.6 TDV8.

Bodsy came this morning and we did the full monty.
Gearbox flush, trans oil, front and rear diff oil, EGR delete and the remap.

He is a lovely bloke who was happy to chat and answer my various questions. He was on time and his work was neat, I can see why he is a trusted member of the Land Rover community.

Unsurprisingly my oils were due a change, being a full dealer service history car the diff and transfer box oil had been changed before but not the gearbox oil we don’t think. Overall nothing too scary was found.

No problems with the EGR delete and no warning lights to report. My engines parameters were read on arrival and a map was designed separately by a colleague who then sent it back to be installed a few hours later.

After a short test drive it all feels good, will report back after a few long journeys as it needs a few miles (1100 for a full collaboration I was told) to bed in, but first impressions were a bit more smoothness generally and a better more positive feeling from a standing start.
