The L322 is a monocoque design and not a separate chassis and body. South of the M25 I'd recommend Glenrands (site sponsor). 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

As long as you never want to drive it inside the m25 you can pick and choose the model ut if you ever need to make sure it's ulez due to the august London extension |

Precisely why I swapped my lovely and comparatively efficient 110 TD5 SW for an enormous and completely inefficient 5.0 SC, to avoid the ULEZ tax! To the original question, I don't have any suggestions in Sevenoaks itself, but in Kent and the surrounding areas RCV and Stuart Gilbert are long standing names with good reputations, and various people on here rave about Dartford Transmissions. Personally I've always used Brownchurch, who used to be in Leyton/London, and are now in Upminster just across the QE2 bridge. I've never yet heard of the body coming of an L322, and even for the D3/RRS where the formal LR procedures for some jobs involved removing the body, I thought I'd read many independents have developed ways and tools to facilitate the more common jobs without lifting the body off. |

Thanks for the recommendations - Dartford Transmissions or Stuart Gilbert are likely to be most convenient, so will check them out. That's a helpful to know about the 5.0SC engine - does that apply to any 5.0SC engined L322? Is that the only model L322 which is exempt? Hope will remain that way, although as this will be a car for occasional use only (holidays, lugging large items and when I need to ferry the entire family around) I may be ok with a non-compliant model anyway.. Hope it doesnt extend any further tho.. looks like none of the M25 itself is subject, although there's a bit in Essex where both sides are subject to ULEZ!

The forum Wiki and search engine are your best tools for learning and for buying look at the For Sale section. A good indy like Glenrands should be your first stop when you get your car as they will give it a detailed inspection and list any faults so you know what you are in for. If you have bought it from a dealer you can use this to negotiate money off or a refund if they flag up something serious or costly. This will avoid £££ further down the line. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Yes, any 5.0 SC L322 Euro 4 compliant and thus exempt, as I believe is the 4.2 SC. I haven't checked the older BMW 4.4 petrol, but think that would be pre-2005ish anyway, depending on what age you are looking at.
