To much engine roar/noise . Any ideas

I find that there is a lot of engine noise in both of my MK3 RR 4.4 petrol engines I have had..... am I the only one that finds it annoying?

I would really like to almost not hear nothing at all. Does the later MK3 RR have a different sound proofing package?

Any thoughts appreciated .

i believe the facelift had better insulation and double glazed windows to help reduce noise...

well mine is very quiet.. if I stay under 2000 rpm...

Above you can hear the v8 and at 3500 you can hear the whine from the Supercharger Very Happy
for example on the highway at 120-130kmph I only can hear the engine but its not loud.. More wind noise than engine.

If you think yours is too loud try to test another one (same year/engine)

Thanks for the replys everybody.

Its not a specific problem with my MK3 RR.... my 2nd MK3 RR was just as loud. I am just comparing it to other truck/pickups we have in North America, some with larger V8 engines than the MK3RR ( 6.2L, 6.6L ect....)
and some of them have very nice and quite cabins.

On long road trips, I really want to hear as little as possible.... as for my track car.... that can be as loud as possible Very Happy

I will look at the late model MK3 RR to see if they sound proofing kit looks different..... The diesel MK3 RR must have more sound proofing? 2003 RR 4.4 only 40k miles (current)
