Are MTR's noisy on normal roads

As per title says , seen these on fleabay as i am looking for to get a set of winter tyres for when the snow falls ,which it does pretty bad up here and i am swithering between these and the ones that Gaz is selling , but was wondering if they were also a noisy road going tyre

yes Mick, they are noisy, the grip is somewhat dubious on wet bends and I am sure they are not speed rated for a FFRR. They are a mud tyre, if yoiu want winter tyres for snow I would (and have) got the Vreds - as the name says Wintrac - excellent in winter and on tracks...I am running them all yr round and absolutely no issues

I've got them on mine, they're a little noisy at motorway speeds butyou get used to it, I don't even notice it now, agreed with the speed rating, I don't take mine about 85 with them on just in case. They make you drive safer in the wet though due to lack of grip 2006 Mercedes CLS

I've run MTR's on my FFRR for the past three winters in Aberdeenshire with regular runs over the Cockbridge to Tomintoul road. Yes, they are marginally noisier than road biased tyres and yes, they do have less grip than road tyres but the differences are obvious, and are progressive so its not like they let go instantly at 90mph, without warning. However, I would not be paying £1,000 for a set of 2nd hand MTR's regardless of what wheels they are on...
PS I drove >150miles on one run at <15C>2ft.

He said he wanted them delivered so I PM'sd to say yes but he still has not replied to my PM so I guess they are technically still for sale

PS: They will £1500 in December

Remember - if the tyres are not the correct speed rating for your vehicle and you are involved in an accident then your insurance company will not pay out !

how many owners inform their insurers about mods? - eg adding towbar/'new style' front end etc etc

i had a long and interesting conversation with a friend who is an independent broker - lets say i've been in touch with my insurers and notified them of ALL changes

Not strictly true.
But best to speak to your insurance company before fitting.

Some modern cars have a settable "winter tyre" function that will warn you when you are approaching the speed rating of a different tyre based on details you've entered into the computer.
