These deployable sidesteps are really beginning to annoy me now!

They are now both out, when I open the car they do the little dance, coming out a bit further then ducking back a bit.

I’ve tried lubrication, to no avail.

Is it just a single module for both sides? Does anyone have the part number?

Interestingly the same part number is for the deployable tow bar (which I also have), does it do both, or do I have two of the same modules? (I could swap them to test)

Yes it does I was sent that one when I put steps on mine I also have a deployable tow bar

I still have the one I took off. as you say it's the same part number just one of the sockets is not used if you don't have deployables. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

To be honest I haven’t a clue! But because both sides are doing it and I haven’t got any other problems I thought it was probably the module. But the tow bar still works, so it’s not totally fried.

I used to have have AMP power steps on my F150. They didn’t like the cold. I would just keep them in once the temp got around -10C. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

My experience of deployable steps (L322 & L405) is if all the pivots are anything but completely lubricated & free to move, the anti-trap sensors kick in.

There are obvious points to lubricate (I use spray on white lithium grease using a long straw attachment) but theres another more hidden pivot point per bracket that’s higher & further in that’s more tricky to see / access.

That wouldn’t explain why both would simultaneously act up, unless both just needed more lubrication.
