Even with a full service history you will need that contingency fund…. If I was buying a late L322 now from a dealer and wanted to be ‘safe’ from future big costs I’d be only looking at low mile >£20k examples. You get much more for your money buying privately as trade in values are terrible. That goes for your TDv6 as well - sell it privately. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I went from TD6 to 4.4TDV8 and it was like having a totally different car in the same body. It’s the longest I’ve ever kept a car. My TD6 was tuned by JE Engineering so it was nice once you’ve got up to speed. Things have moved on now though, and even the 2011 has a dated entertainment system, but I only tend to listen to CDs so I like it. The engine is epic, and was still used until the L460 came along.

At least if you can keep the TD6 a bit, you can make sure the 4.4 is what you want before you sell the TD6.

Couldn’t resist it - I am now the proud owner of the afore-mentioned 11 plate TDV8 4.4! First impressions are - chalk and cheese from its TD6 predecessor - which incidentally, went to a good home for which I got more than I would have if it had gone to a breaker.
