Will it still show in the instrument cluster for the passenger seat as well are the drivers seat? I’ve seen it display when adjusting the drivers seat but I was sat in the passenger seat when adjusting the passenger seat and never noticed any message on the dash but I will check again now you’ve pointed it out! Thankyou!

Regarding code readers etc, I’ve used the OBD11 type readers with mobile apps in the past is there any particular apps that are regarded as being suited to the L405? Or would people generally recommend using Land Rovers own diagnostic tools? I’m just wondering if it’s worth plugging it in using my ready and seeing if any fault show up!

You will need a better diagnostic tool than the basic OBD tool to read faults other than emissions...

Just another thing it could be,

Have you tried unlocking your vehicle with the other Keyfob you have been supplied. I’m not sure about LR’s but other cars i have you can program the keyfob for yourself and the other keyfob for another driver and the seat will move to their position if the other one is used

I haven’t tried unlocking the car with the spare key that’s an idea! I’ll try that once I’m home. I’m considering disconnecting the switch pack on the left hand side of the seat for now to stop it moving, I thought this might eliminate the controls on the seat from the equation, my thinking being if it still does it with the control buttons disconnected then it’s not the seat controls however I’m not sure if its likely to put a faulty light on the dash. As I say I’m new to the Range Rover world so it’s all a learning curve!

Looking at the 'faults list' for my L405 (a bit sad, I know) I found that my car had also experienced the random front passenger seat away as well as (separately) the random lowering of the passenger headrest. It was found to be a software fault and cured by correcting the software. Only Range Rovers since 1988

CS, this sounds similar to my fault. Out of interest what are you using to look at the fault log?

Sorry for the terminological confusion here, it is not a LR or similar list but my own notes of all the things that have gone wrong with my car. With my last 322 I used the back of an envelope, but found I soon needed another, so I now have a notebook (at present the total is 24 issues including corrosion items). I hope that is not too depressing news for you as a relatively new RR owner.

The problem I had does sound very much like what you are experiencing, so I'm more confident that it is probably a software issue. Only Range Rovers since 1988

UPDATE- So I’ve changed the switch pack for the memory seats on the passenger side, now got all the lights working on the switch pack and as a result I’m now able to program the memory seats on the passenger side. For now I’ve programmed all 3 modes into the same position and I’ve done about 500 miles in it over the weekend and the passenger seat has stayed in the same position! Bingo! So I’m hoping this was the issue and that it’s cured it. I also changed the battery to a slightly larger unit as I was concerned about this also due to it going flat on me. However I’m fairly sure it’s the switch pack that’s cured the issue! Thanks again for all the help, I’m sure I’ll be back again with the next issue😂
