How to Remove and Replace an L405 Steering Wheel

I recently bought a half-wood steering wheel from Cam-Tech-Craig on here for my new L405 as I prefer it over the leather one (he has others if you want one).

I asked my indy about swapping it over, he said it was at least a two-hour job. He started mumbling about airbags and did that teeth-sucking thing people do when they are going to charge you too much. I thought I might save a few bob here. We repair vacuum cleaners but used to have a Mercedes van garage many years ago. One of our chaps is an ex-Merc bloke, so how hard can it be I thought?

We decided to swap the wheel over today. I looked on Youtube, Powerful UK had the info I wanted spread across two very long videos interspersed with lots of banter and irrelevant commentary. So I made a more concise Youtube video that runs less than eleven minutes on how to do it as I am honing my editing and narration skills for our other videos anyway.

Naturally, I plugged the forum here in the blurb and on the end screen. We need new members, don't we? So if you want to replace the steering wheel on your L405, here's how.

Thanks, Gremlin. The forum here is a great resource, so I thought we could document what we learned with a 'how-to' for others and at the same time snare the odd new member ongoing. Accompanying blog article here. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
